we had a few of these lying around when I was a kid, but I don't know why since we didn't have a 8" drive. We had a drive for 5" floppy floppies though, and obviously a 3.5" hard floppy one.

I remember using a 8'' when I was four, and the 3.5'' until 2006.
Last year I threw away like 20 (most of them were my father's).

I recall the existence of floppy disks, but I was never allowed to handle one... my mum wouldn't let me anywhere near hers since they had her work on them :x Now I have little cousins asking me what the purple square next to the "save" button is... T_T

*facepalm* Maybe I'm lucky, I haven't had to explain that to anyone yet. Although I know I'll end up having to explain it to my kids, eventually... ~_~*

Not having any kids around is part of why I have trouble thinking of myself as an actual 'adult' and not an overgrown teen.....

Heh, same, I have a hard time thinking of myself as an adult until I have random moments of "holy crap what am I doing holding a job and paying rent and feeding myself"
