The Three Musketeers weren't knights, musketeer is it's own class of soldier.
Akonyl wrote: cowboy or knight, but I went with knight. The offensive options might be more limited, but the choice of mail or plate depending on the opponent would be better than everyone else's. Their biggest problem would come from the people with guns, and cowboys would have the most recent guns, but not much else.
There would be no match were using mail would be better than plate and every other warrior on the list has guns so that's a big problem.

Pirate's firearms are the same as the Portuguese-based samurai muskets.
Raifuujin wrote: Ninjas. Shuriken, smoke bombs, kunai, short swords, and they themselves are their weapons.
All of these groups (say for cowboy and pirate) have developed martial arts. Also the kunai are used for climbing, not as weapons. The bombs the ninja used were similar to concussion pot grenades of the pirates. Suriken are actually very short and mostly just metal spikes for de-nailing (they also weren't used for killing mostly as distraction so the ninja could escape). The swords they used weren't different from samurai and usually suffered from a lack of quality.

Knight, samurai, and ninja all had naval ability. Also the pirate is the only one with no common equestrian ability.

I thought we were basing it off of common gear (ie: their stereotypical portrayal), not anything they could have possibly ever used.  Therefore, the only ones with transportation would be: pirates - boat, knights - horse, cowboys - horse, native americans - horse.

One required field for both ninja and samurai was horse riding and boating/water transportation is for ninja. Knights fought with Islamic soldiers or English vs French which mean naval battles were common among knights. Using boats as a reason also doesn't make a lot of sense either, since no pirate weapon could hit from the distance of a boat (however the rifles of the cowboys and natives probably could) and cannons can't really be loaded by one guy.

And I'm not going off of what they might use, I'm going off of what they did use in great numbers.

Samurai and ninja didn't. Samurai not at all (not honourable), and couldn't have in great numbers anyway, as the entirety of Japan had basically no guns until 1853 (sakoku), and the samurai ceased to exist 15 years later (Meiji reformation). Ninjas came out of fashion in the 1600s, and therefore didn't really have access to firearms either (not to mention that that'd be kinda detrimental to all that sneaky stuff).
Furthermore, the pistols pirates and cowboys used were very inaccurate, and could be blocked by a sufficient amount of steel. Roosevelt still managed to survive a pistol-shot due to a metal eye-glass case (and a bit of folded paper, but that shouldn't have been that decisive :P) in 1912. Rifles are a different matter, though, but they aren't part of anyone's standard apparel but the Indians.
If  ;), :D, ;D, ::), :P, :-X, :o or >:D are attached, that paragraph may not be 100% serious. Seriously.

I agree on the armor part, however I added in that line just to be safe in case someone felt like saying something along the lines of "but a knight in plate armor wouldn't be able to deal with a ninja's superior agility!"

If that's the case, then there are still Pirates in our age that now use bazookas and grenades and so on. So Pirates still win :x

Knight was the closest option to musketeer though! :x

If you wanted to choose musketeer, you should have chosen musketeer. It's in the poll (and it has totally always been there) :P

Dude, samurai and ninja aren't stupid. The moment the Portuguese showed them flintlocks, they adopted them. There is no case where a weapon would be seen as dishonorable either, just in conduct. Miyamoto Mushashi fought alongside people with guns. Also, they had guns since about 1500's an were a huge part of Samurai warfare. Ninja were most often reused Samurai and so the flintlock muskets were already so common in use, also the pistols were popular due to size vs strength. If the sneakyness was really in effect they also wouldn't have used Kusarigamas.
And the Roosevelt point on pistols might mean something if you can prove the caliber being used and the angle of the shot. Also you showing off the fact it was "1912" means that medical standards would be higher, so even though he didn't recieve immediate attention, just his body chemistry could take damage better than any of the other soldiers. Also the bullet wasn't stopped, it went three inches into himself, he was just lucky at the spot where it went in. You also say "some paper" when it was 50 pages folded over. Even only 10 yd beat out any weapon of the knight besides a crossbow which doesnt have the speed of action. And even if lever action rifles were taken from the cowboy, they still had coach guns.

Understood.

That would be going off a more legal definition. However if you want to play ball: Apache Scouts of WW2 would have lower grade weapons (but still have battle rifles, smg's, lmg's, carbine rifles, and grenades), but way better training than any pirate.
[Probably good to note that I don't think apache scouts should be counted in this, I'm just using an example of how easily my side can be stretched as well.]

Tho Pirates are still called pirates. While Apache Scouts... don't have a Knight, Samurai or Musketeer in the name. So per "Definition" they wouldn't count to any of them without stretching it much. (I think musketeer would be the nearest?)

Um, am I the only person that sees Indian on that list? An Apache Scout would be in that group, unless "Indian" is a literal person from India. Also, going on technicality, Samurai and Knight would also be one class if a Somali and a Portuguese would. Also, Anders Behring Breivik wrote a massive manifesto on how he was a Templar Knight.

Oh ya, that's why in my first post where I said I picked Indian, I used quotes and called them Native Americans later in the post here:
ProfParanoia wrote: "Indian" and Cowboy would have the best guns (both went well into lever action). Cowboy's themselves are just errand boys and so the actually combative warrior of the two wins.

Native American wins.
