I hope they not really waste the battleship setting. not just murder in the ship and bomb explosion at the end  ::). I hope there will be some Battleship action. like launching missile to enemy ship  ;D.

Also anybody knows what ship in the scan? i guessing Akizuki-class if not it will be Kongo or Atago

Apparently the story of Movie 17 takes place on a state-of-the-art militia battleship called the Aegis. About the appearance of Amuro & Co, at the moment, the promotion is basically putting a big question mark over who 'The Private Eye' of the title actually is. They're trying to tease us by saying, "Is it Conan? Or one or more of the other detectives floating around in Conan at the moment?" Ran will also find herself in dangerous circumstances. (as always) So Movie 17 is about the Maritime Self-Defence Forces.

Basically, the Hakuba/Sera/Okiya/Heiji/Amuro thing in the add is a troll from the magazine.

Yeah, there's no way they're gonna be in the movie. Even Movie 13 specifically avoided having Kir or Okiya or anyone.

I'm going to dream for everyone. If this is a military battleship used for specific military activity, then shouldn't it be off-limits to three hyperactive children? Of course, that's following real world logic instead of anime logic. I'm not a DB hater, but all the haters that DO exist can hope all they want that this is the case.

The DB are automatically in every single movie. Stop dreaming.

Wakari has a point :x. There'll be some reason or other given for why so many characters end up on board, though how plausible it will be I don't know.

The reasons in these movies are never legit. Combined with the lame puns, the inclusion of the DBs in a child-unfriendly environment and the mandatory bombing, we have the workings of an average movie. Maybe above average since the ship is cool. It's better than a cruise ship anyways.  I wonder if they'll get anybody in the Japanese military to voice the characters like the soccer players did for 16. Now that would be pretty neat.

Ignoring the trolling from the magazine, anyone else notice that Ran's clothes in that screencap are the same she wore in Episode 1? I sense another non-canon flashback scene.

If the private eye isn't Conan/Shinichi, it will probably be a movie character, or someone 'minor" like Yuusaku. Hattori and Hakuba might be possible, especially Hattori because of his appearances to date, but that is it. The hot plot characters Amuro, Sera, Okiya, etc still haven't (not really a spoiler)finished their plots in the manga yet(/!spoiler), so unless Gosho told the writers six months to a year in advance what his characters would be doing in April they aren't going to appear in any capacity beyond a minor cameo.
