I'm looking forward to watching this. It's rather unfair if I dismiss this without watching the whole episode. But it feels kind of weird that they made Watson into woman since I'm used to Watson being a man.

Everyone may as well give this a shot, especially if they're awaiting Sherlock S3, because this will have finished its entire first season before Sherlock S3 is even done filming. In fact, Elementary will probably be debuting its second season by the time Sherlock S3 airs (likely somewhere between August and December of 2013). I like the trailer, so I'll see how the actual show shapes up and go from there.

I don't really mind the fact that the show has a woman Watson...in fact I think it's an interesting thought...but I can't stand Lucy Liu, they couldn't have found someone better? (Oh yeah and Joan's backstory kinda blows a little....I might watch it because it had the guts to get Horatio and his 'Sunglasses of Justice' cancelled....but I dunno.

Yeah, Joan's backstory bugs me way more than the fact that she's a woman and I do agree that there are far better actresses than Lucy Liu out there.

I watched the trailers and for some reason it felt more "Monk" then Holmes to me.

I have seriously doubt that it will work.

I'm going to give it a try. It looks decently interesting, and I wasn't sure about a modern Sherlock Holmes before I watched Sherlock.

I agree with the other posters about Watson's backstory though. I think they're subconsciously being a bit sexist or something by not letting her have the epic backstory the original Watson does. If they turn her into a less awesome version of Watson simply because of her gender and "emotional connectivity" or something of the sort, I'll be annoyed. Yes, Watson helps Holmes connect with people. That does not mean that he can't occasionally pull a gun on someone.

Really, I'm going to be watching because it has the potential to be fantastic. If it's not, I can join the multitude of people already bashing it.

Johnny Lee miller an lucy liu rock!!! I love em!!

I like the way Miller is portraying Holmes. Hopefully this show will satisfy our Sherlock needs till s3 of the legend!!!
