Re: Kogorous Riddle Thread and eworms Deduction Thread
Ok panel 4 why the burn? with time it will break by it self. Also (important)do not see how releasing /burning the string makes the shutter move down. How is it attached?
Panel 8 same kind of question. how does the string attach to the shutter as to return it.
You see those are my problems. The string must be attached twice to the shutter but one will counter the other. How do you avoid that?
1) One to keep the shutter from falling.
2) one to return the shutter to the top.

Re: Kogorous Riddle Thread and eworms Deduction Thread
So it I got that right and again it does sound backwards, there must be a 'return' string to do that. Is that right? I can see you have it set up so if you pull down , it goes down (the shutter) and if you release it it could go up. But the second part would require a counter weight like in elevators and clocks. Does it have one?
Sounds like your shutter has some kind of pulley. The string hangs loose, go over a pulley and then goes over the bottom of the shutter. You release the string and the shutter goes down.
But I find it hard to believe that the shutter is heavier then the bowling ball. It is your return of the shutter I am currently having problems with. As I see it, only the bowling ball could do that.
But you have the ball falling, so another pulley is needed to pull in back up. I suspect you are using the slack area for the shutter to come down and when the slack is over, the shutter should in theory move up, right?
By the way let me explain why the string should natural break. Think this way. If the bowling ball is still above the ground at the end of its rope, since the ball wants to hit the ground plus the momentum of the falling ball should put a great enough stress on the rope, that at that point, the rope will jerk and likely break.

That shutter show very well part of the problem I have with your solution. I saw how slow and at times sticky it got. If it is that way all the way down, it might not break your victims neck. Compare to how a Guillotine goes down with your shutter.

Ok how about a tough one. Murdered body face down. Broken neck. Room 100 ft in all directions. One door with a key lock on both sides. Key in lock on the inside. Ceiling 100 ft up a single light bulb. a light switch on one of the walls near the door. Body in middle of the room. Room empty but for a pencil.
How was the victim killed?

As I said earlier this was a murder and it is a locked room one. To Remove this theory completely, The victim was wearing non slip shoes and the floor was completely dry. The Pencil was in his pocket before the murder. It fall out after.
