Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I can't wait to play this game, but I have to throw out that I personally feel like if you want to know how to advance in a game? Play the damn game. If after several hours of looking everywhere and trying everything you still have nothing, then go ahead and look it up online. I used to want to throttle my cousin for asking me how to beat a dungeon the second she stepped into it. "Guess how I did it? BY PLAYING THE GAME. Go do that. Isn't that why you bought it?"

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
While the characters are already more fun, I'm still confused how the beginning of this game is so much better than Twilight Princess.
...or why Twilight Princess' beginning was bad. Wind Waker had the best first hour btw.
I haven't played enough to have any other opinion other than "it's a 3D Zelda game, awesome." and how Zelda's singing in a fictional language was great. Also, I like how with this and Spirit Tracks, Zelda is finally a really good character. Metroid Other M unintentionally made me a feminist just to make sure that doesn't happen again so I am glad to see this. She was extremely meh character before that outside of Wind Waker.

Is it just me, or does Shigeru look a lot like the Happy Mask Salesman from Majora's mask?

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I think they forgot to even give the new areas a story. Like in Wind Waker where the Rito were dealing with Valoo going nuts or Twilight Princess and OOT having Zora's Domain frozen. In Twilight Princess, these new plant species are lost...and then you find them. Yay? And then in Lanayru there's a new species with an awesome gameplay mechanic to awaken them...but no real story to it. I'm not one to complain about less story in games (especially as so many games completely fail at good writing) but Zelda's usually good at this and it's just weird to see less story in a series. But there's still plenty more to the game and I've heard it takes forever to get anywhere so...
Shame as the gameplay is spectacular and really does an amazing job at clever puzzles while still being, in theory, mostly basic puzzles.
Also, weird the amount of influence (as in, any) Spirit Tracks has on this game despite the fact that compared to other Zelda games, no one cares about Spirit Tracks. Granted the main influences are the return of the games being challenging and Zelda actually being a good character so this is a good thing.
Unfortunately, unlike Spirit Tracks, after the first hour or so, you only see Zelda for a brief moment at the end of the 2nd and 3rd dungens.

So, how far into the game have you gotten? I think I'm close to the end, myself.kkslider5552000 wrote: I think they forgot to even give the new areas a story. @Kamite: that's the best representation of the Zelda timeline I've seen so far. And it matches what I've predicted for years. Yay me!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I know. I just checked official sources. But I hate that the first games take place in the 'THE HERO WAS DEFEATED' timeline. I mean, it's not what you'd generally think a timeline would result in within a video game universe. That's because if a hero's game over in one game results in a split timeline, what about the others?Kamite wrote: Its the official released from Nintendo.
At this point, I have quit attempting to understand Nintendo's logic. Especially with the 3D graphics for the 3DS.
