Re: The Meaningless Forum Awards Committee
I think the ones from last year which should be repeated are "Favorite Thread" and "Favorite Member". Still considering the "Funniest Member" ones.
Here are the problems with stuff like "Gamer" or "Artist" - both of them require you to go to two different boards which not everyone visits, so it might be that only a few people will vote in those categories.
Here are some guidelines I used for last year's awards:
-Not too specific
-Not anti-new members
-Not something that requires one to go and read too much
The only one from last year which didn't really fit with those guidelines was probably the couples thing.

I see your point in this one, but then I think doing two gender versions for each is a bit of overdoing that. Doing a king OR queen of a specific forum is a good idea, though. But I think the forum options are just the ones you listed - General Discussion and Off Topic. Not everyone go to the Story Board (for example), so I think the GD and OT are enough.Kleene Onigiri wrote: Adding

But don't you think these are a bit too specific and that you have to know more "deeply" who are the people here. I wouldn't be able to vote for anyone in these awards. I can't think of anyone who I've ever thought is either innocent, cute or badass.- Most innocent XD
- Cutest Member
- Most Badass Member
- etc from the others
had the aim to specify most favourite one. So that more people are voted.
The voting system can be discussed. 5 votes might be a bit too much (for some people even 3 was too much), though if people want it to be 5 votes, I have no problem with that.To get a different outcome and to get more new people into the votes, we could increase the 3 votes to 5 votes too. There are a lot of DCTP people anyway :V

anyway, I feel like last year's categories were good, though the problem of "people will probably win again" is there. To fix that, I would say do something like "For categories in the previous year's MFAs, people who placed will have votes deducted from this year's votes for them: 8 for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd", of course with the numbers changed depending on expected voter turnout.
Also, to get new people in on the action you could make "brackets" by post count (displayed count + off-topic count or somethin), so for example all the nominations for the "Most Helpful" category would be placed into something like:
Most Helpful 1500posts: Chekhov
that way people who don't post as often can have a chance at things.

Re: The Meaningless Forum Awards Committee
Just to note, when I reply on the suggested awards in negativity, it doesn't mean that they are 100% out of the question, I'm merely giving my opinion. If the majority of users want a certain award to be inserted, I'll add it even if I'm not all so fond of it.
On the other two, isn't that a bit too specific? Why not just have a "funniest award" and a "most random award" or "weirdest award" instead?
That might work, though then the results probably won't be so truthful with what people voted. Still, I believe that repeating the mod/admin and the couples awards would be a bit pointless. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there hasn't been so much of "couples" in this year.Akonyl wrote: anyway, I feel like last year's categories were good, though the problem of "people will probably win again" is there. On the first two, as I said before - the avatars and signatures are stuff that members change all the time. It's usually something temporary (except for Akonyl, Kleene, Conia and a few others)Suutashi wrote: How about these?
