Basically the title of the newest chapter is similar to the first chapter ever in the series, so people are considering it a reboot, and after a terrible arc without any of the loveable characters (basically Shinigami), one of the more popular ones comes back.

one of my big problems with the Soul Society arc is that you suddenly have to learn the names and faces (and we know how memorable those are in Bleach!) of like 30 characters at the same time and I can never remember any of them (at best I could hear the names and know it's a Bleach character) outside of Aizen and Gin.

From what I recall, usually Captain strength is determined by how long you've been a Captain/how much experience you've had.

Of course Yammamoto is number 1. 'cuz he's old as heck, and then Unohana I guess would be the second strongest, since she's been in the Gotei 13 even longer than Shunsui and Ukitake.  Shunsui is probably stronger than Ukitake due to his health conditions.

Zaraki is a powerhouse but doesn't even know his own shikai/bankai, Gin and Byakuya are probably at the same level since they are both of the same age - Byakuya had extensive training in the Kuchiki royalty while Gin was a child prodigy and got a seated position after one year.

If I were doing the rankings of captains during soul society (no vizard captains).. it would be

1. Yamamoto
2. Unohana
3. Shunsui
4. Ukitake
*probably a big power gap between here
5. Gin
6. Byakuya
7. Kenpachi
*power gap
8. Tousen
9. Soi Fon
10. Hitsugaya
11. Kurotsuchi
12. Komamura

Not including Aizen cuz he's like God level or whatever.  

Also, most potential to improve is Toshirou, since he's a prodigy, and Shunsui said himself give a 100 years and he'll surpass him (which isn't a long time in Soul Society terms, as most of the captains are like a bajillion years old)

The Espada are pretty much self explanatory...though maybe Ulquiorra's segunda etapa might raise him up a level or two.

I've always thought Ulquiorra as the strongest Espada due to his Segunda Etapa which was otherwise unknown even to Aizen :V

I remember him saying that he's the strongest Espada due to his 2nd form but I'm not quite sure about that. And you can see that when he was in his 2nd form, Ichigo was no match and was nowhere near his level until he used a cheat code. :V

Yeah, and because he used his cheats too much and abused its power, he encountered a virus and corrupted all of his powers and disappeared into thin air. Poor Ichigo.

Btw, shouldn't Komamura be higher in that list? I pretty sure he's higher than Kurotsuchi or maybe Hitsugaya. Even though his fights has shown that he looks very weak and is pretty damn slow, I think that he's higher than them.

Yeah I dunno, he seemed really strong, but then again all the Espada claim their the best like Nnoitra, Grimmjow, Barragan.. Unforunately it's hard to compare Ichigo to anyone since he just uses Plotkai all the time.  He got his ass whooped by unreleased Ulquiorra and died if you remember, and barely beat Grimmjow.  Is Final Getsuga Tenshou Ichigo equivalent to Hollowfied Ichigo in a sense?

Also, being how Aizen is Aizen, I'm sure he had an inkling about Ulquiorra's Segunda Etapa, since that's kind of how he looks in his hollow form (also his first release looks to similar to his unreleased state).

I don't think he's better than Starrk, since Starrk is a beast and took on four captains before he lost (Shunsui, Ukitake, Love, and Rose) So maybe #2, Barragan IMO isn't very strong but just has cheap hacks.

Yeah I didn't really know where to put Komamura, since he's only won really one battle against some fraccion Arrancar.  Also, back in Soul Society, Tousen and Komamura almost got their asses handed to them by Kenpachi.  I put Hitsugaya above him soley on his Ub3r potential and that he's a prodigy.  I put Kurotsuchi above him because he's actually beaten an Espada. 

Those three are probably all really close to each other in power I guess.

Btw ranger, I´ve been playing Soul Resurrección since yesterday, I´ve beaten the history which is very short and have Grimmjow in 16. I actually found the fight with Barragan a bit difficult at the beggining.

nice, yeah the story mode isn't all that great, but the mission mode and playing with the characters is where it's at.  I'm like lvl 130ish with Ulquiorra >_< lol
