Doesn't solve the "Haibara is a boring, overused character-type" problem. Sure, they all have it, but Haibara is a somewhat main character. She's around a lot more than the others, and therefore easier to tire of quickly.

Just my opinion though. You guys choose your preferred boring character-type and I'll choose mine. V:

I voted Haibara, because I still like her pretty well even though I agree that she's been bland for a while now. But Takagi makes me smile too, so it's not like I love one and hate the other.

Uehara's cool enough, but I don't know her that well yet. The love story of Yamato/Uehara is actually more unusual than most of the romance plots in DC (since she married another guy she didn't love in the middle of it, that's fairly hardcore), but it hasn't really been explored very much and as of now is the only role the character has, so I'm not that attached to her at this point.

And Ohtaki is Pedobear. :V

She's an over-used character type? :/ Really - please explain, I always thought she was pretty unique as a character, who started off as a villain and kind of an anti-hero in the series.

She's definitely not in the series enough!  TBH, one of the reasons I stuck with this series was Ai, I would slug through some really boring AOs and cases when I was catching up in the series hoping for Ai to be in an episode - she was that spark that kept it interesting.  I mean, she doesn't appear that much - Black Organization plot episodes, which are like one every 80 episodes or so..and DB cases, which are still  far less than the generic Ran/Kogoro/Megure/Takagi cases.  She can only be considered an overused character if compared to any BO/FBI/CIA character, Suzuki Sonoko, or random detectives like Yui or whatever.

I disagree with that; I thought the series was great in the episodes before Haibara came. But the DB cases definitely rose in quality after Haibara joined, since Conan had someone on his level to talk to (well, they were higher quality for a while anyway, till Haibara became just the babysitter as someone said).

Plus yeah, she jumpstarted the plot in major way; the BO episodes soon after she joined were really good. (Kind of ironic now, since she's not jumpstarting much of anything anymore.)

So, I chose to think of Haibara at her best when I voted for her, rather than how she functions now. :V And I liked Haibara at her best better than Takagi, I think.

I don't mind discussions. But I'd like to remind people that people have their own opinions. Even if you can't understand why, or you think the world has gone crazy, please respect the opinion of the other one. You can of course tell your opinion. As long as you guy don't go sparta at each other after that

I find pairing-discussions a bit dangerous tho. Since they are normally insta-bash-seasoning for any thread out there. So try to say cool with them too D: <3

It's not a normal 1 vs 1 contest. Because that way, the main characters would definitely go to the finals and win.
With this concept, it's a "team battle" which relies on randomness and luck. Otherwise, Otaki and Ethan etc. wouldn't have made it this far XD
So, because of this concept, it's not a vote for "vote your favorite character", but just "vote a character".

Because like in this example, you have ai and otaki in a team. Sure you can vote ai because you like her. But then again, Otaki will be dragged into the next stage too D: And he didn't get many votes usually...
So, even if you like Ai, you can still vote for the other team, just so that a Character, that didn't get many votes, wouldn't go to the finals [it's not finals yet, but soon D:]

I used to love Haibara as a character, but honestly as it is she's about as interesting as your average DB. Obviously, I'm hoping that's going to change one day.

In my opinion, she's much more funny now than before.

My opinion is my opinion.  I like Takagi better because Ai, honestly, gets on my nerves lately.  It was a whole lot more interesting to have her around when she first appeared, but now she's just obnoxious.  She has good moments, like anyone, but they seem very few and far between.

Takagi, however, has basically zero connection to the plot and somehow that makes him a lot less boring.  Yeah, I mean, his side story is essentially finished with the Let it Be/Hammer Man case, but I still think he's awesome.  (And- even though it isn't canon, I love in M7 when he basically comes up with the entire method, then thinks he must be wrong.)


You guys have your opinions; I have mine.  Neither of us is right or wrong outside our own minds.

It was just an example XD Since you're not supposed to vote your favorite character, but you can. But you can also vote someone else, just because you want another character not to proceed etc.
But imo, Vodka > Ethan

Stoic character with a dark past, who really only trusts the main hero, yeah. Dunno, that bores me.

Anyway, getting past their character types and into their individual personalities, I still like Takagi and Uehara better. Haibara spends her time either boring me to death or annoying me.
