I prefer Ai and Conan and vote for that option, though I know in my heart, that it is more likely that Shinichi and Ran wins the match.

I think it means couples that are canon (which are Shinichi+Ran, Satou+Takagi, etc).

Canonical couple is the couple that the creator/author of the story has placed into the storyline and plot and the couple that he intends to go with for the time being. Like the post above this mentions ShinichixRan, SatouxTakagi, HeijixKazuha etc...

i have to admit when i saw this thread I kind of expected the results to be a little closer, by that i mean more AiCons. But yeah it's gotta be ShinRan just because i think Ran deserves, she has to be sad all the time she should get a happen ending( no innuendo intended)
