FMA brotherhood and FMA original animation is almost comparable to DC manga-based cases and DC AOs... Brotherhood is WAAAYYYYY better and ended better than the original FMA..

I couldn't compare them since I haven't seen Brotherhood yet but that's almost certainly a really bad comparison as the original FMA actually had stuff happen and while it became somewhat silly the story was still really good imo. The most boring part was the canon teacher arc anyway.

And there's very few things that have such a huge gap in quality quite like DC manga cases and DC AOs, so that's a bad comparison to make unless you are talking about Star Wars Episode V vs. Episode I or something.

Just had to use something that is manga-based and anime adaptation for comparison... Although the Original FMA had some good moments, there were loopholes and ended quite empty or shall I say remedied by the Conqueror of Shamballa movie... FMA Brotherhood on the other hand had good developments and ended with fulfillment..

Shamballa?!  FMA has to do with Shangri-La?! I definitely did not see that coming from the first 25 episodes...

Not really aware of what Shangri-La is all about so I cannot answer your query...

It's a valley in eastern Asia that's usually synonymous with being a paradise, Shamballa is really another name for it

though I'm not sure if it actually has anything to do with that, just because something steals a name doesn't mean it's related.

Unless you want to convince me that Sephiroth in FF7 is supposed to be a symbol of Judaic faith. :P

If it's paradise then the movie kinda depicted the Alchemist world as Shamballa while the conquerors are normal Earthlings...

I think this is what happens when you tie up loose ends using a movie... I'm not even sure if that was planned and as you said, it was never really hinted in the story..

That was one weird movie. Every time it tried to fix how anti-climatic the last few episodes were, it also added something that was usually cool but really odd.

Yeah I'm not a fan of series with movies that are actually canon, especially if it's one of those "wrap it all up" type of movies where its supposed to be the final chapter of the plot or something.
