When They Cry Series

Post by Found »

Or, better known as Higurashi and Umineko.

I've played EP1-7 of Umineko, and have started Higurashi. I'm not moving it though, got kind of bored. Maybe during summer break.

Also, EP8 is getting released on 12/31! :o

Awesome!  I've played 1 and 5 of Umineko.  Friend doesn't have the other ones D:. I think I might buy the rest when I have money xD.

I heard Higurashi is wonderful.  I love the manga too.

You shouldn't play so much though xD, yeah take a break.
Hey, I have an idea, let's have a THIS SUCKS / NO THIS SUCKS / NO YOU / NO YOU argument for a couple pages, that will really be great. - Ingmar

Same here, I've watched all 3 Higurashi shows, but none of Umineko.  Judging from the stuff I've heard, it's really different compared to Higurashi.

It's really hard to explain.

Higurashi(1st season & Kai) is series of arcs that involves a near-comedy beginning, but usually ends with a series of brutal murders.  It's different with each arc, but one girl is always killed in each arc.  It's explained later in Kai why she's always killed and her relation to the entire village.

Higurashi Rei is basically a 5 OVA series of what if? stories.

Higurashi is about moe slice of life teenage girls suddenly turning into insane murderers. Rinse, repeat.

I never watched the third one (iirc, that was the 6 episode OVA one or whatever), just the first two.

Also, the slice of life moe stuff in Higurashi was painful to watch at times (don't kill me :V), but the whole insane murderers part that kk mentioned makes up for it.

I only watched the first 17 eps of season 1. I'm not sure why I stopped.

Well that, and some more.  I like Higurashi for the bloody murders at the beginning though now I find the plot really interesting.  It's quite awesome seeing murderers in one arc actually get back story, and then you can kinda piece the whole mystery together.  Why, how, and who killed so and so?  It gets answered in a creative way.

Edit:  Should we discuss spoilers here D:?  I'm quite obsessed with this series lately :3

you should continue then, considering that at that point, basically nothing is answered yet. :P

spoiler tags exist for a reason

I saw the first season dubbed and I hope the 2nd season is too (admittedly the sub is probably better but I'd force myself to watch the first season again despite not being in a rewatch mood so yeah)

That must be really hard. A lot happens in each episodes, and frankly, you need everything to fully understand the mindscrew that occurs in every chapter.
Spoiler: EP5 character
At least you've met Dlanor, my favorite character *o*

I dunno about Higurashi, but Umineko is almost like And Then There Were None, only with 18 people and a deranged witch claiming it was her. The protagonist, Battler, claims that magic isn't real and only a human would have done it.

... then awesomeness ensues.
