5 Centimeters Per Second (Byousoku 5cm)

How many of you all have watched this amazingly moving anime movie?

It pretty much hit me with full force. I'm not sure how old it is, but I take it to be less than year, I'm not sure.

I loved this movie.

For one, it was an anime movie (well animated, too) that is split into 3 episodes, and it is about the distance between two lovers (sounds familiar? )

Moving and tragic, but so well done... Definitely one of my favorites. I didn't cry, but I'm sure if I had been a little more soft, I would have!

The title, though it seems to have nothing to do with anything, is in relation to the speed at which Sakura (cherry blossoms) fall to the ground: 5 cm per second.

For those who haven't watched this movie, if you're interested in a good watch, I suggest this movie. I haven't met a person who didn't like it yet, but I do wonder about others' opinions.

Also, even if you're not interested in the movie, I suggest you listen to the ending song. One More time, One More Chance preformed by Yamazaki Masayoshi, was pretty great. The lyrics were really fitting and nice, too.

I have been meaning to watch it for a long time. But it has always been in a "very long wait" status in netflix.

I remember when I watched it. It was subbed by DB as a troll for some episode of Naruto I downloaded. (I had no idea that DB even did trolls, so when I got it, I was a bit pissed off ) I kinda skimmed thru it, thought it was boring since there was no action, and left it there for about a week.

Then, my friend came over and I let him look at some of my anime. He saw the troll episode and just watched it, and after a few seconds, he told me that he watched it and loved it. After he left, I watched it too.

The movie was sad, but it didn't really bring a tear to my eye.(well, not a lot, at least) I loved the whole childhood sweetheart romance behind it(obviously reminiscent of the whole ShinRan relationship in DC), but I was a bit younger(and slower) then, so I had to watch it several times to get what was going on

Overall, I would recommend it to any person over 13 years old(or somewhere around that age)

I watched it, but alike other Makoto Shinkai's works I found them to be... missing something.

It's ironic, when I first saw his work at the film fest in Japan, I found that he can fit so much emotion in just a few min.  In that sense I believe "She and her cat" and "voice of a distant star" is actually superior xD.

I guess they spend so much time on the graphics, they started to drop the storyline.  Not that I'm saying Byousoku 5cm is bad...it's just shallower then advertised.

With that said, the graphics in all of Mikoto Shinkai's works are beautiful xD.  If anyone wants high res wallpapers, let me know.
