The only thing I tested yesterday related to the lottery was deleting an account.

It went swimmingly.

I take that back.  He's given us people who check the Off Topic forum fair warning.  But what about regular posters who never come to the Off Topic forum?  They'll never know about it.  And say that person get's their token picked.  Does that mean they'll get a PM from Jd- saying "Merry Christmas!  You won the lottery!  You're account is now going to be deleted.  You have one hour to say your goodbyes", and they're going 'HUH?!?!?'.  Or worse, say they don't check their account on Christmas Day?  They come in on the 26th and find their account no longer exists.  Sounds pretty mean to spring that on someone...  :-[

There will be many opportunities to win.

I'll give them two if it makes it better.

Essentially, virtually everyone that qualifies checks the Off-Topic forum; that's why the rules are designed for people who have posted quite a bit and have played Mafia (which would put them in here more often than not), but have also been active in the past three months. I didn't want to introduce dead accounts to the mix--though... there will soon be another dead account.

If someone is chosen that is very active but not aware, I guess they will have to learn to be more mindful of the overall forum activity.

One way we can try and avoid getting deleted is to start creating a whole bunch of new users (say, deleteme1, deleteme2, deleteme3, etc...) and have each new user post in the official lottery topic.  Each new user will get 3 tokens, and that will raise the chance that one of these users gets deleted and not one of us.  

(Of course, whoever does this will probably have their account deleted for breaking the forum rules about creating multiple users.   Anyone willing to make that sacrifice?  )
