Well, I could also do the phase change at 9AM my time, but that would mean that it's at 3AM for people in EST and the other Europeans might not like that time either.
But maybe it could be added as an option?

Uni's finished for the year so I'll be back in Malaysia which puts me only 7 hours ahead (I think). I guess I could just stay up really late and be nocturnal for a couple of weeks. Don't worry about me. I'll figure something out. Who knows, I might get killed in the first night and not have to worry about all this!

Nah, we're pretty nice to people on their first round. You're pretty much guaranteed to survive the first night/day unless we find out you're BO or something.
