It's interesting this way? How? She is comparing a main character to a character who was hardly shown and is dead. Ran vs. Haibara would have been far more interesting...or even Ran vs. JodieChekhov MacGuffin wrote: Ran has more character development, but lacks the mysterious past. Akemi doesn't have the comedic element Ran adds. (ex. the dysfunctional Mouri family dynamics, bringing out Shinichi's sillier side, joking with/being the joke of Kazuha and Sonoko) The fact that Ran has more ink time and therefore more depth seals it for me. It says something that Akemi who appeared for only one case and assorted flashbacks and hearsay can hold her own. Somewhat offtopic, I am still holding out hope for an Akai-Akemi-Bourbon love triangle. The real truth is that I am voting Ran because I don't get into protracted arguments about whether she is alive or not. >_> In case a certain someone reads this and tries to start an argument about it, I might feel the compulsion to force feed you Akai's beanie cap.
Kleene Onigiri, thank you for your wisdom in not setting up Ran vs Haibara because I would have not wanted to moderate that. I think it's more interesting this way.

Since Ran and Akemi are kinda similar (besides that one is dead while the other isn't), it is interesting1Kaito wrote:It's interesting this way? How? I also don't see any common point between Ran and Akemi.1Kaito wrote: It's interesting this way? How? She is comparing a main character to a character who was hardly shown and is dead.
The cry-thing doesn't count because one of them actually cries for valid-enough reasons.
"Ai vs Ran" doesn't mean "AiCon vs ShinRan". But since many people can't get that, you're right.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: Kleene Onigiri, thank you for your wisdom in not setting up Ran vs Haibara because I would have not wanted to moderate that. I think it's more interesting this way.

If even haibara sees Akemi in Ran, then they are similar O.o" Same with Akai mentioning it too.Girl19 wrote:I also don't see any common point between Ran and Akemi.1Kaito wrote: It's interesting this way? How? She is comparing a main character to a character who was hardly shown and is dead.

And crying when you miss someone isn't valid?

- Physical similarity, if any, count? Also, Haibara only thought about supposed similarity when Ran saved her life. In my opinion, that's not enough to compare the two. I think if Ran were to be compared with any character, it should be someone similar (e.g. Aoko, Kazuha).Kleene Onigiri wrote: If even haibara sees Akemi in Ran, then they are similar O.o" Same with Akai mentioning it too.

- Not valid enough to cry over a hundred times.

- Not just there. She also thought about her as Akemi when Kogoro and Ran were at Agasas place to not encounter the BOGirl19 wrote:- Physical similarity, if any, count? Didn't Ai actually refuse to approach Ran until 246-247 (The mystery in the net case) precisely because she reminded her of Akemi ? I don't remember if it was explicitly mentionned though.
