That made you infinitely awesomer than me, coz I held back tears a few times when I should've bawled.
Whenever I watch something that I'm aware might make me wanna ;__; (by amazingness or emotionalness), I always make sure that I'll be alone for the duration so I'm not tempted to hold anything back, TTGL was no exception.

So I guess there are a couple of series I should watch, then.
Superman = Captain America > Aquaman = Hal Jordan > Wonder Woman > Barry Allen > Thor > Martian Manhunter > The Hulk > Wasp > Hawkeye > [power gap] > Iron Man = Batman > [power gap] > Hank Pym

if you mean TTGL in addition to monster, I'd recommend watching monster first, because after TTGL you might not be able to take monster's seriousness and pace as easily.

You can watch the series any way you wish, the way i would recommend is to watch the original movie, GITS SAC and 2nd GiG, then the last 2 movies. Watching the series makes it much easier to understand the last 2 movies. The first movie started it all with slightly different art styles so its why i recommend it as your very first.
I started watching few episodes of GITS-SAC GIG1, maybe I'll postpone that for the mean time and watch the 1st movie first.. Then I'll probably watch GIG2 then Innocence and finally Solid State Society..
If you think you are cooler than me then prove it, B*TCH!
Many say it's a little bit similiar to Prison Break, I don't know anything about Prison Break though, but basically it's about seven young men who get bashed into a jail and must live through torture from the evil officer and

psycho doctor
... it's about friendship... a lil bit tear-jerker I guess... It was set in Japan after the World War II...

A new anime series called Shinrei Detective Yakumo (Psychic Detective Yakumo) has lots of suspense and mystery in it. Only 2 episodes have been broadcasted, and they are awesome.
