Okay, how about...
Spoiler:
The letter 'o'.  It fills up the word 'room' but doesn't appear anywhere in 'space'.  I know that's stretching it a bit, but seeing as she hasn't responded to any of our suggestions, this answer's as valid as any other right now.

"Scientia" originally meant "knowledge". Art is a science, the study of colour and form. Music is a science, the study of sound. English is a science, the study of a particular language. So that piece of knowledge is "scientia"- it's scientific!

Actually, light would take up some space.
Because in order for light to be in the room. Then there has to be a lamp, flashlight or light source.
And if it's coming from the outside, then there much be a window or door.

The door would have a door knob which fills some space in the room.
And the window has a frame that fills some space.
