After some Google searching, I'm still sticking with  waves as my answer. Here are my reasons:

1. Matter is supposed to have mass and take up space. But from what I've learned, waves don't have mass. As such, it can't be matter.

2. Unlike molecules and atoms which are small particles that serve as components of matter, wave is not a particle but a disturbance. From that, it couldn't possibly fill up space.

But I'd like to know if I got it right. After all, it's just a theory, and I think I'll have to read more of my past physics lessons to further solidify my theory.

I'd like to point out that waves, and if it's sound waves you're talking about, then it depended on the disturbance of air molecules, hence, without air, these waves cannot be transmitted, in other words, it is air that is your answer, and hence not accepted by her since she said air is NOT consider an answer
Same thing with electromagnetic waves, light is one form of electromagnetic waves, and she also rejected it as an answer

That may be true, but I still think that waves still qualify because it is only a form of disturbance. Also, I really have this feeling that waves is the answer since the official answers given by other sites were light and sound, which are both connected to waves.
