yeah. i didnt play the original gold and silver games so when i went to cinnabar i was like what is this dump? of course later i found out that some volcano erupted and wiped out the island
It made me so sad! The first time I went there I actually thought Blaine was dead T_T Other stuff made me "awww" as well, like Pokemon Tower in Lavender being moved. I wondered if the Marowak had gotten a nice new grave, as well as Blue's Raticate. Red's mom sitting home alone and wondering where her son was made me sad too.
It's a shame.
Ya know, when I went up Mt. Silver to battle Red, I was willing to lose.
"HE'S THE STRONGEST NPC, DAMMIT! I CAN'T POSSIBLY WIN AGAINST THE AWESOMENESS OF RED!!!!" But then again, I defeated him using my lvl 84 Typhlosion.

yeah lol. he was actually pretty weak considering I almost defeated him using level 50-60 pokemon. his strongest pokemon is supposed to be pikachu but it was probably the weakest of them all. i crushed it with a nidoking
EDIT: i lost on his fifth pokemon but thats pretty close i guess...

Level differences can be made up for by playing type advantages, which means that Red's Pikachu CAN be killed easily if you've got something fast with a powerful ground-type move up first, but nevertheless it's a tough battle, with Snorlax probably the absolute toughest. That thing is a bastard to kill if you don't have a powerful fighting move to hand.

Was it ever stated what kind of time skip there was between G/S/C and R/S/E, or R/S/E and D/P/Pt, does anybody know? or is there no mentioned connection between Kanto and Johto and Hoenn or Sinnoh, so they could theoretically take place at the same time? I haven't played R/S/E or D/P/Pt as much as the older games and remakes, so I can't remember.

why? the anime is fn horrible outside of nostalgia purposes and Team Rocket, and is essentially every series that only exists for advertisement ever that is only somewhat more credible an animated series than Captain N or other shows that are only talked about to be made fun of
and this is from someone that watched the show almost religiously until at least Johto ended
Besides, at least Lupin III needs to be subbed/re-subbed so subbers should be doing that instead.

Have to agree. I'm watching through the old anime at the moment (I'm currently halfway through the Orange Islands, an arc that I now wonder about the purpose of, especially since I can't recall the GS ball ever being used for anything), but mostly it's nostalgic moments that I enjoy (as well as the "Crap getting past the radar" moments, like when Brock says that a very pretty female bully can "violate my rights anytime"). I think i'm going to turn into more of a rager than the Nostalgia Critic when I get to the later seasons. Pokemon is the only anime I watch in english purely because that was how I watched it during my religious observance of the anime as a child (communing to my place of worship- the TV- once a week, no exceptions XD).
Though sometimes you do get different things out of it as an adult. Aside from appreciating more fully just how pervy Brock is, and shipping Ash and Misty harder than ever, I am now certain that James is Jessie's gay boyfriend. Aside from anything else, I've lost count of how many times he's happily and effectively crossdressed.
