Also take notes that we might not be able to rely on Google anymore in the future.. I heard that several keywords were already banned in the Google search Engine, such as "Loli" whatsoever (I still got some promising results, so i think it was only banned in certain countries)

If major publisher decided to take some serious stance against Scanlation, they might try to get Google cooperation and banning the words related for Scanlation search

Taking such a carefree approach doesn't really account for many distinct possibilities. If the publishers decide to go after individual series one at a time (and, as such, the scanlation groups themselves), it's highly likely that many series will lose whatever support they have in the community at large. Many times, people do not like to chance it when it comes to any sort of legal matters concerning this hobby. Google as you may at that point, you're unlikely to get much more than raws (if that).

For example, if there happened to be a big group that did the manga and anime of a series and they received a C&D related to one or the other, legally-speaking, they aren't likely to want to continue with either--especially if the C&D came from the Japanese parent company that still has ties to both mediums.

If the whole fansubbing & scanlating practice has to go "underground," I'm afraid a lot of series with already-limited English fanbases will have difficulty continuing at the pace they are accustomed to.
you clearly underestimate the internet

I think you overestimate just how little your fellow fans are willing to do. :-*

It may not seem it, but there is a core of Conan fansubbers (whose numbers are relatively few) that are responsible for bringing you the vast majority of the releases. I, myself, created three of the major groups, and that's out of like what, eight? People shouldn't take for granted that there is always going to be a team dedicated to bringing their favorite series into English. Sure, some people will do two, three episodes over their entire lifetime, while someone else does a hundred, or two hundred. Right now, getting the raws and such isn't hard because there's no legal pressure from anywhere. When there is legal pressure, fansubbers/scanlators drop like flies, because most people just think, "This isn't worth it."

There will always be a means of distribution--the problem is there may well be nothing to distribute as far as commodities are concerned. You realize that there were times when Conan (for example) was not capped in subbable quality and released on the internet, right? That's for the anime, which is far better off. The manga? Let's just say that we are all very grateful to kyuu for being so dedicated or else there could be 10-20 file gaps in the future while people wait to get the files collected in volume form (by the time one volume would be done, we'd still be 3 months behind). Unlike with Naruto & Bleach where everything is scanned in every week, Shounen Sunday is a relatively low-circulation magazine with very little exposure amongst the foreign anime fans. Some of the series are popular (such as MAJOR), but no one bothers to scanlate it because it ran for ages and purchasing the magazine for themselves was absurd.

This is all beside having people who have the skills to actual produce releases. Then again, I may well be underestimating the willpower of the internet. This is the same internet that brought you ANFS, lest we forget. :-X

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

it wasn't meant to be read if you look at it carefully you can see noting was written where the censored part is at.

I didn't think the joke needed that much explaining. :P

As for google censorship, I'm guessing that's only in certain countries (such as I believe the censorship china makes em do to operate in china) because I haven't heard anything of the sort yet.

good comparison, especially if you look at both authors' works before then (in other words, they were better)
