For two reasons:

1) Your avatar gets a scroll bar on my resolution As you most likely didn't choose an avatar which is too large for your resolution, your resolution has to be higher than me. This was the most important part.

2) And, as I'm currently accessing from my Laptop - just any resolution is higher than 1024x600. Really.

Someone who now knows how many information you give away with any avatar.
