I felt they were still a pushover the first time around. The second, though, once they've leveled up... still a pushover compared to Red, but much tougher. Good to spam battle to get experience and money, though.
I only had trouble with the Champion since I didn't have any ice types and my favorite pokemon to use is a dragon type.  I still beat them though and I've been spam battling them whenever I get bored.

Spam battling the Leaders during their allotted call time is good too. Fight 'em, leave the Dojo, call 'em again, then pop off to the Pokemon Centre and back. Works like a charm.

I have reached the Elite Four, but as expected, my Pokémon are not at a suitable level to defeat them. That didn't stop me from trying, though. I was able to get to the middle of the fourth's lineup after three tries, but it's still better than I expected. I haven't played any game past Generation I until now, but even I know my team is not the best.

I don't exactly want a Flareon, I just want a Fire type.
Get an Arcanine, if that's the case :D

Growlithe is only in HeartGold.

I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

I got a Dratini w/ExtremeSpeed but I'm thinking if is the move worth keeping or not. I was planning for Fire Punch/Blast, Dragon Claw/Outrage, Dragon Dance, and ExtremeSpeed.
But there's (Hea)Trannie...

...so advise me. Will I keep it?

well, i can tell you this, i kept resetting until i got an adamant natured dratini, it's a pain to raise until it's a dragonite, but it was really worth it, dragonite is my best pokemon, and it's my physical sweeper

I don't see the point in having Extremespeed while having Dragon Dance...

You can't say "epic moveset" without showing it ;)
