And those scenes from the old series that are not shown in the current one are actually filler scenes? If yes, IMO they did a great job back then on the fillers as they were great additions to the first anime version.

I took a look at HunterxHunter pictures on MAL...you serious? o__o I know it's not right to judge..but it doesn't look that cool, especially for a fighting shonen serieskkslider5552000 wrote: Bakuman is great in the manga at least, but it seems moderately silly to me to watch an anime about manga.

I'm actually interested in watching a Sailor Moon-like show at some point. Partially because why not?, partially because it's another anime genre I've never seen much of before, and partially because it would be fantastic research for my fanfic meethinks. :p Any actual good reccommendations?

It's better than 90% of the shounens. And it's close to seinen, actually. It's more of a psychological thriller IMO. I am now rewatching it for the third time and am not regretting.ranger wrote:I took a look at HunterxHunter pictures on MAL...you serious? o__o I know it's not right to judge..but it doesn't look that cool, especially for a fighting shonen serieskkslider5552000 wrote: Bakuman is great in the manga at least, but it seems moderately silly to me to watch an anime about manga.

Yeah, from what I'm hearing it's a standard generic shonen, I probably won't botherranger wrote:I took a look at HunterxHunter pictures on MAL...you serious? o__o I know it's not right to judge..but it doesn't look that cool, especially for a fighting shonen serieskkslider5552000 wrote: Bakuman is great in the manga at least, but it seems moderately silly to me to watch an anime about manga.

Yep, trust someone that just heared something and not someone who watched it several times xD. It's NOT a generic shounen, don't be making random assumptions.

Sorry man, I ain't ever going back to Shana. That shit has gone to the deep-end. Is this the last season? I might watch the last couple of episodes, just because I want to see closure with Shana and Yuji.Parkur wrote:Yeah, from what I'm hearing it's a standard generic shonen, I probably won't botherranger wrote:I took a look at HunterxHunter pictures on MAL...you serious? o__o I know it's not right to judge..but it doesn't look that cool, especially for a fighting shonen serieskkslider5552000 wrote: Bakuman is great in the manga at least, but it seems moderately silly to me to watch an anime about manga.

This changes quickly. Like right when the episodes get to double digits quickly.ranger wrote: I took a look at HunterxHunter pictures on MAL...you serious? o__o I know it's not right to judge..but it doesn't look that cool, especially for a fighting shonen series
Also it gets...pretty creepy later on.

Re: Anime Recommendation Thread
The chimera ants arc on HxH is sometimes too violent to be a shounen. And there's barely any fights in the York Shin, it's mostly deductions and tatics all over the place. Genei Ryodan is like a bunch of Gin's together. But with way more instinct and Kuroro(the boss) is seriously overpowered.

Re: Anime Recommendation Thread
HunterxHunter is awesome. The York Shin arc gets a little tedious, but the characters make up for it.

Superman = Captain America > Aquaman = Hal Jordan > Wonder Woman > Barry Allen > Thor > Martian Manhunter > The Hulk > Wasp > Hawkeye > [power gap] > Iron Man = Batman > [power gap] > Hank Pym
