what's wrong with that? As long as it has enough information about the show, I don't see why it wouldn't be a good resource for basic info+plot for a show, not like the articles are written by people who know absolutely nothing about the series or something.ShiraKiryuu wrote:Kaito Lady wrote: i read the wiki....You're relying on wiki for anime sources?Kaito Lady wrote: *checks the wiki*

I see nothing wrong with using wiki. Personnally I usually use MAL though, since I can also see reviews and how people rated the series.Akonyl wrote:what's wrong with that? It's not that they're wrong. It's just that most of the things that I see about anime in wiki are wrong.Akonyl wrote: what's wrong with that? Re: Anime Recommendation Thread
So I just finished watching Kamisama Memochou along with the one of DC's latest episode about the fake vase and 2 Kindaichi Specials. Then something came to mind.
By any chance is there actually a PREVENTIVE series? Even to some extent, I would really appreciate the help.
I understand that DETECTIVE series are about unraveling the truth/solving mysteries, but it would really be a breathe of fresh air if there will be some sort of PREVENTIVE series out there. Someone/something that prevents an occurrence from happening, save a life in the process instead of giving justice to the dead.
The closest to the idea I can think of at the moment is Higurashi. For those who have watched I think they know what I mean.

^ To be honest, there is not much to offer in terms of mystery due to predictability. What I liked about the series is the feel good element after each case.
Not really sure why the face of the anime was the the hikki detective girl because IMO other characters in the series appear to be more interesting (e.g. Gardening Club aka male protagonist and the hot lady ramen shop owner).

Something like Higurashi is really hard to find.
But for the action ... I would recommend Elfen Lied not really Preventive though.

^ I just remembered Steins;Gate and how it reminded me of Higurashi while I was watching the former. Actually, it was also on the top of my head while I was writing the recommendation request.
Not really after the time travel - rewind feature (Past-oriented) of the series but more on foresight (Future-oriented).

Mirai Nikki? It's the first thing I think of in terms of foresight, but I don't think I'd really call it preventative.CoolKid3 wrote: ^ I just remembered Steins;Gate and how it reminded me of Higurashi while I was watching the former. ^ Thanks. Did a quick search and it appears to have an interesting plot. I'll check out the first few episodes to see how the plot was executed.

Just dropped Shakugan no Shana.
Hmm..should I start Bakuman? Or anyone else got recommendations? If you know of a gem like Welcome to the NHK, feel free to speak up.
Also, things that are similar to Haruhi I would enjoy (Bakemonotagari or w/e the eff it's called?)

Re: Anime Recommendation Thread
Bakuman is great in the manga at least, but it seems moderately silly to me to watch an anime about manga.
you should totally be watching Hunter X Hunter though. You said you liked Yu Yu Hakusho (I think?) and it's the same person who made this and it's like that except an overall better shonen series. And it's only at episode 15 so far.
I'm actually interested in watching a Sailor Moon-like show at some point. Partially because why not?, partially because it's another anime genre I've never seen much of before, and partially because it would be fantastic research for my fanfic meethinks. :p Any actual good reccommendations?

Is it just me or HxH 2011 is more fast-paced than HxH 1999?kkslider5552000 wrote: you should totally be watching Hunter X Hunter though. And those scenes from the old series that are not shown in the current one are actually filler scenes? If yes, IMO they did a great job back then on the fillers as they were great additions to the first anime version.
