Really? Because I was surprised at how much I liked Chronicle. The entire thing was shockingly genuine and it was just so creative and interesting as a movie.
Oh good, I'm not the only person in the entire universe who actually liked it?

Partially because, thanks to the whole kinetic powers thing, it had the intimacy of a found footage movie without all the bloody camera shake.

Also, I loved the utterly tragic dynamic between the cousins. Especially how it ended.

I thought a lot of people liked it? I mean other people's reactions were the only reason I was interested in seeing it.

No, a load of people I know hated it. I'm not sure why. A lot of them complained of not liking the main character much, by which I assume they meant the really creepy one (because both cousins tote around cameras at various points). But wasn't that the point, that he was unsettling and damaged? A few people I know complained that the story didn't really go anywhere either or that the powers were never really explained. I disagree with the former and don't really mind the latter, myself.

What do you mean the story didn't go anywhere? It is the rise and fall of a superhero/villain and his friendship with other superheroes. That's basically the story.

Besides, explaining stuff and adding EPIC!1! stories is what killed Hitchcock for me. If it's not gonna be good enough, please don't bother explaining stuff.

The only valid complaint about the movie are the characters personalities, especially the less serious parts. I don't agree with it necessarily since it seemed real and fun instead of just teenagers being annoying, horrible human beings but I can see why people would get annoyed by it.

See, I like the characters' personalities myself; I don't think I'd hang out with any of them myself, but I like the way the three of them interact with each other and how it moves the story. I think it made for a well-told, interesting and ultimately all the more heartbreaking story.

I have to agree that I liked Hitchcock better when it was just Will Smith being a hilarious asshole superhero learning to be a vaguely heroic super-Will Smith. That's why I'm quite glad that they didn't stick a full backstory into Chronicle; the story was about the three guys as people more than about their superpowers, and it stayed as being about the three guys until the end.

Well, I hated it. Or found it hilarious. XD

The cinematography was good, though. Personally I thought the movie had potential because it was certainly fresh but the characters' lines... er... dialogues(?) really killed it for me. Hm. It struck me as too unnatural and they talk funny. I dunno, I didn't think those are things people would say. Also that disturbed character annoyed me a lot. :V

Ah! I know. That guy's descent to madness lacked transition, for me. XD

The guy was probably sociopathic from the start tbh. Also, I liked Chronicle too :x. I actually didn't mind how simple the plot was because of all the character interaction and development (though some of it was kinda backwards :x). I did really like how the 'main' character wasn't even supposed to be likeable though, it's very hard to find that in most films that I've seen because even if at first they pretend he's unlikeable they then go on to wreck it by making them a sympathetic woobie. This one did have life pretty much sucking for him but he just fell down the slippery slope after that instead of getting over it like most 'main characters' would.

And I can't think of another fi- oh, yeah I saw Avatar. Got to say you can watch it for the special effects, but the story itself is so unoriginal it hurts.

Never got to see that movie.  Good to know it wasn't very good, though.

Movies are expensive and I usually only watch good ones.  There are a few I got tricked/faced to go to though.

Avatar was really boring to me.  Loved the visuals.  Would have rather saw the whole thing without sound so I don't have to listen to the horrible dialogue and unlikable characterisation.

Red riding hood.  The skinny emo woodsman came out to chop wood and he looked like he never did that in his life.  Walked out in 10 min.

The new star wars movies.  I tried SO HARD TO LIKE THEM TOO.  Growing up I wonder oh my gawd why is it so boring.  Then redlettermedia came along and told me why: http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/

See, when Star Wars Episode I came out, I was seven. I went to go see it wearing a little Jedi cape and hood and carrying my blue toy lightsaber. I loved it. God help me, I even though Jar Jar Binks was funny. I'd spent a few years watching the originals that my dad loved so much and could talk forever about, and I was all excited about getting to see a brand new one with him and my brother.

The problem is, it hasn't aged well at all. When you get older, you start to notice unfortunate implications and tangled plot threads and the fact that, while Ewoks remain adorable, Gungans get increasingly annoying. Get the chance to watch Episode I back-to-back with Episode V and VI and you wonder why the Yoda puppet in I is so terrible.

At least I has the saving grace of the "romance" between Anakin and Padme just being a little kid asking a girl if she's an angel and giving her a charm and has none of the horrendously cringeworthy "romantic" dialogue that cripples II and severely damages the first half of III. GUYS, SERIOUSLY, JUST GO WITH "I LOVE YOU" "I KNOW". THAT WAS SOMEHOW A BILLION TIMES MORE LOVING THAN ALL THAT SHIT ABOUT SAND.

What to expect when you're expecting.

My mother made me go with her. I never want to have children after watching it.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

The live-action adaption of Avatar: TLA, Avatar (the visuals really were gorgeous, but it was just so boring.) those Nicholas Cage Disney movies, Because I Said So, and that one movie with Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler in it. Also, The Change-Up.
Why? You never win the cursed war.
