Tsubasa or XXXholic?
I recently got the first two volumes of XXXholic and have the first four volumes of Tsubasa. I prefer XXXholic (and the amazing cover art) so far. No spoilers please.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles starts pretty slow, but after a while gets really crazy (when the story goes a step further and diverts from ... the usual pattern ... urgh it's difficult to avoid spoilers). Fantastic work if I may add. It took me a while before I realized XXXHolic and Tsubasa are slightly interwoven, so I had some "WTF" moments, got me kinda confused.

Speaking from the manga point of view, both have their good points. I can't decide which one is better. But the animes, both of their opening themes are good.
For Tsubasa, the plot in the manga has a much quicker pace compared to the anime and much more dramatic plot (and a bit unexpected too). It totally beats that of the anime, which has very little plot and doesn't follow with the theme.
For xxxholic, I haven't seen the anime, but the plot in the manga is actually interwoven with that of Tsubasa. However, there's more theme associated with xxxholic. Yuko's character is different between the two series.
The main theme is a continuation of x-1999, which the manga ending will most likely not be completed.

I don't particularly like the anime for either of them, but both mangas are good, depending on what you like. xxxHolic is a little more grounded and serious due to being in the "real" world, but Tsubasa is fun and interesting at the beginning. Granted, they are interwoven, very heavily so in the more recent chapters, and both get into crazy plot twists at roughly the halfway point. You'd probably have to read both to have the ending stuff make sense, especially since you can't just jump into either series and expect to understand what's happening.

Both mangas are very good but once you get into the later chapters, I would say that xxxHolic > Tsubasa. At least Holic doesn't have clones! >:l

why would either need clones with the multiple universes and stuff?Shinran wrote: At least Holic doesn't have clones! >:l
Or is it like the last episodes of the 90s Spiderman cartoon? Cause that was pretty awesome.

Re: Tsubasa or XXXholic?
There are some points TRC where the story gets really, REALLY good, especially now that the manga (along with xxxHOLiC) is nearing its end. Still, I voted for xxxHOLiC as the overall winner. I guess I like the drama more in xxxHOLiC.
Sorry I can't resist writing the above spoiler. Even though the spoiler is vague, it's still a spoiler..i think :p

Re: Tsubasa or XXXholic?
I started reading xxxHolic in autumn, but got really confused when it started to cross with Tsubasa. So, I finished xxxHolic with a hurry and started reading Tsubasa, and now everything makes sense quite well, even though I think I missed something...
For me it's really hard to decide which one is better, because it's hard to think about them as separate stories, they're more like... different sides of the same coin, or something like that. The plot in Tsubasa is slightly more fast-paced, and the characters are more interesting that in xxxHolic, at least in my opinion. And Fai is so cuuuute that I'm fangirling over him all the time! *spins around in circles*FaiFaiFaiFaiFaiFai~! <3
I haven't watched either of the anime versions, but I've heard some horror stories that they messed up Tsubasa quite bad. Is that true? And at which point do the anime versions stop?

Re: Tsubasa or XXXholic?
i don't watch clamp anime(s) because the mixed-up story is so complicated, but i prefer xxxholic... it's more interesting, and i'm really irritated with sakura's (tsubasa c.) perfect-princess-like attitude... i mean, she's really helpless and dependent...

lol I have to agree with you on that one. She's pretty much useless on the first half of the series.takiko wrote: i'm really irritated with sakura's (tsubasa c.) perfect-princess-like attitude... i mean, she's really helpless and dependent...
