I can't even remember the last time I watched an episode of this series. I did consider this break from the series...desperately needed. Watching the same series this consistently for 5+ years is a bad idea. But it is nice to get back to this again.
I love the name of this case. It's so simple that it's amusing. "COME WATCH THIS EPISODE OF DETECTIVE CONAN, KOGORO IN THE BAR! YOU WILL BE SHOCKED TO SEE A MAN WHO DRINKS AT A BAR!"
The case itself was good...I think. It was interesting, at least on the more interesting half of cases (even if the motive and victim were the exact same thing as usual), and the trick was really creative and kinda insane. And like a lot of recent cases, they changed things up JUUUUUST enough to keep things fresh (mainly in the weird pacing towards the end). I'm just not sure how they expect any normal person to be able to figure this out? Like even compared to usual.
But the star of this was Kogoro, easily. Without any doubt. I was immediately in love with this by Kogoro narrating to himself, only for his coolness to be utterly ruined by no one seeing him that way. And consistently being certain the bartender had fallen for him, love it. That's great. I love how it wasn't a one-off thing either, Kogoro monologue was consistent and amazing. But then, it got even better. Not only does it so more of his perspective during the whole confusing Sleeping Kogoro bit, it shows his thoughts about it afterwards. And how he's justified this all to himself is beautiful. I had the biggest grin on my face by how far it has gone. It's almost kinda dark in a way, but still wonderful and hilarious. INNER KOGORO IS BEST KOGORO IS TRUE KOGORO!
I'm glad this is a direct continuation from that pickpocket case, because that's the last notable case I watched but I'm not finding this that compelling. I'm not one to complain about the overuse of character disguises in this series, but this isn't that shocking. "THE CHARACTERS WHO DISGUISED THEMSELVES TO GET NEAR THE FBI DISGUISED THEMSELVES TO GET NEAR THE FBI?!" I felt like last year (in the anime obviously) the series had finally gotten back on track in terms of having the story feel compelling again, and I was incredibly excited by Bourbon after realizing he knew who Conan was. But the follow-up has been kinda underwhelming so far. Not that it's bad, but more that I don't get why it matters. But I guess the occasional "why does this need to exist" scene is better than doing nothing...
also, I like this ED. It's a nice little song.

I thought it was pretty fun to see a case from Kogorō's perspective for once.

Sounds like a pretty interesting episode. May have to watch it sometime.
(Though I'm a bit behind in the series. I still watch the latest episodes that come out every week though, so that way it will be easier for me to catch up.)

One random oddity in this ep that I didn't notice until I'd watched it a few times is the champagne glasses -- or well, the lack of them.
The partygoers ask for three glasses, yet Yuzuki seemingly forgets them since they're not on the table when they've got the champagne...
And yet they go and uncork the champagne without an empty glass in sight. What did they expect to do when it came foaming out? lol.
