All I have to say is... Dat Art. Dem faces. Jii-san. 'Nuff said. It might actually turn out to be a very interesting anime, and I'm looking forward to watching it. I think I had my hopes too high up for the art, though.
I think I'll like the ending song, but this is coming from a 30 second clip. Hopefully it's entertaining enough because I don't really like the opening song so far :x

The first episode has a lot of retread from the previous series--a lot. However, I can understand why. They want this series to stand entirely on its own and of course want the origin to be covered as in-depth as possible. Overall, apart from the art, which is a little rough around the edges on the whole, this can definitely go places. They've done all they can to give this series its own identity instead of making it seem like a Conan spin-off, so I feel pretty confident it can be interesting.
Spoiler: Minor spoiler for Episode 2
They're already bringing in Snake, which is great.
The second episode will be an adaptation of the "Blue Birthday", with the above worked in. As I was saying earlier in this topic, what this series really needs is a week-to-week story connecting everything, instead of just random adventures (especially since we have to retread some here).
Really good so far. As Jd- said, bunch of retreading, but at the same time they made it closer to the manga which made it different. The art's still meh, but at times it didn't look too bad.

Is it just me, or does the episode just scream 'Toichi isn't dead!' at you?
Also, I'll bet that shadowy Kaitou figure we briefly see is Kaitou Corbeau
The art is ... bad. Just bad. And the episode is missing light-heartedness I've come to expect from MK. So far, I like the Kid specials a lot more than this...
Can't say I'm a fan of the artwork. It's not as bad as I'd thought from the trailer, but I'm definitely more partial to the art in the specials.
Spoiler:
Looks like they've dealt with the catch-up fairly well, here's hoping they don't completely retrace the steps of the manga and the specials. I'm curious to figure out who the Not-Kaito is now.
Honestly, this wasn't as bad as I dreaded it to be (the way some people talked about it in the cbox made it sound like it's some sort of atrocity). The art is kinda meh, and some stuff felt off, but besides that it was fairly decent.
I'm interested to see what this show will be like after it's done retelling the stuff that was already covered in the former specials.
Got used to Mao's voice as Aoko fairly quickly.
The songs aren't too bad, but I'm not a fan of the OP. It sounds like a very typical A-1 show OP, which isn't a crime on its own, but I don't think that type of OP fits to a series like Kaito Kid.
Are we going to stick to this topic for episode discussions, or should we start with independent threads for every episode? Also, should we move this thread to the Kaito Kid board, or leave it here?
