I only read about it somewhere, so no clue if that's even true, but I was under the impression the anime producers simply wanted to not show too much of the BO in the beginning for some reason. It was probably done for the same purpose that Gin and Vodka didn't appear on the train with the bomb.

That's right, reason was that they didn't know how long they were gonna produce anime content of the series because it hadn't reached it's peak in popularity back then, so they didn't wanna give the viewers expectations for the plot, by showing BO development, and wanted to finish the series simple and probably in a lame way(if in any special way at all).

Yep. At that the time, the producers had only signed for one season, so one episode each week for one year. They were waiting to see if the show was popular or not. At the end of season 1, the show's ratings were about 13% to 18%, so it was decided that they would make more episodes. That's why they re-did the Akemi Miyano episode.

Well what if something happened in USA and she was forced to move to the UK under the witness or whatever they call it. Maybe she was threatened by the black organization in the states and now she is here for revenge after changing her identity. Certainly we know she is on the side of Conan as Gosho revealed previously.

Spimer wrote:Not only that, they made a first version of that episode that involved Akemi surviving and took out Gin to place a COTD (Character of the Day): that forced them to make ep 128 to fix that mistake because the early anime team didn't realize the relevance it would have for the plot: or maybe they wanted a "happy ending", who knows.
Not to mention that plus the altered version in Episode resulted in a glitch in which he's suddenly aware of the codename of those who poisoned him, but that they were part of an organization as of Episode 54.
The Mystery of Conan Edogawa.

Arguably one of the best attempts at tackling the story of "Ran discovering the secret behind Conan". It's strong point is taking a common plot for Detective Conan fan fics and presenting it in a fresh manner such as:
- Touching on things that aren't dealt with in the show or discussed much.
- While there is some understanding towards Conan's predicament, the fic doesn't ignore the problematic approach he takes towards keeping quiet.

So, do yourself a favor and read this. I only wish I could so something half as decent.

Let us assume that it is normal in Japan to marry cousins.. It is forbidden in other cultures.. So, even though Gosho is Japanese and Detective Conan story is Japanese, he wouldn't let Akai love his cousin (because Gosho knows that Detective Conan fans are all over the world and from different cultures, so he couldn't take the risk).. That is what I think..

My friend has suggested that Akemi was not Elena's daughter and that may solve the problem.. but I don't like this idea..
What about the couple who turned out to be twins and they didn't know about it? I mean Gosho doesn't really go out of his way to avoid these types of controversial things. Maybe that's the reason he let Akemi get killed in the first place, 'cause in reality they're cousins and they never knew, so it'd be too weird to have them remain as a couple.
