Re: "Mafia Round 21," or, "Boom With A View!"
I don't like the idea of a third faction using their abilities to support a random side after they've already won, but removing them seems to penalize the town unfairly. What if, after their win, their abilities, including lynch voting, are removed? So llike they're arrested, only they still count toward the town's numbers.
That way the only way they could influence the game is to reveal what they'd already learned (can't stop that), but they also wouldn't really be able to throw in with one side or another. And they also wouldn't lessen the town's numbers by leaving the game.
And since Natsuki is officially a townie, it does make sense to let her win with the town regardless of whether she's alive or not, as long as she's achieved her kills. And Eisuke/Kid can win with the town if they're arrested.
This is what I'm thinking now:
Thanks for bearing with me while I figure out what I want to do.
I'll make it clear what I've decided before the start of the game.
Also, *calls on previous GMs* Has anyone ruled on this?
If a discombobulator gets Natsuki or Pisco on a night where they use Bribe, does the discombob'er get notified that he/she succeeded or failed?

Unless it's the bomber, whos presence at all is a disadvantage to the town, so if he gets booted out of the game it's a benefit to the town.pofa wrote: I don't like the idea of a third faction using their abilities to support a random side after they've already won, but removing them seems to penalize the town unfairly. Also, if you take away all their abilities including lynch voting, there's pretty much no reason to keep them in the game anyway, "counting towards the town's numbers" doesn't matter if you can't vote.

I'm thinking of the "BO wins if there are x number of townies left and no healers, etc" rule. Even the bomber leaving would be like a free kill for the BO.Akonyl wrote:Unless it's the bomber, whos presence at all is a disadvantage to the town, so if he gets booted out of the game it's a benefit to the town.pofa wrote: I don't like the idea of a third faction using their abilities to support a random side after they've already won, but removing them seems to penalize the town unfairly. that rule only exists because the BO wins when their votes = town votes though, it's there to point out "when the BO can tie the votes and there's no way for the town to get rid of the BO without lynching, the BO wins". Leaving a player in the game without a vote does nothing to the rule really, because for all intents and purposes they're dead anyway (unless you decide t otake the rule verbatim, in which case you're doing nothing but dragging out the game anyway because 2 BO vs 3 townies one of which can't vote is unwinnable for the town anyway).pofa wrote: I'm thinking of the "BO wins if there are x number of townies left and no healers, etc" rule. Thanks for pointing that out, because for some reason it hadn't occurred to me. Back to the drawing board.

I'm fine with criminals going away after their objective is reached, because aside from natsuki they're not very useful to the town anyway

I am okay with that too, if you are too worried about the criminals influence on the game once they won.Akonyl wrote: I'm fine with criminals going away after their objective is reached, because aside from natsuki they're not very useful to the town anyway![]()
Leaving them in the game with their abilities (without killing) was supposed as some kind of reward for the player since winning with them should be rather difficult. Also, it is supposed to prevent a player becoming useless too quickly - Okuda killing his target by chance during day 1-2 or night 2 and then having to leave the game because of it might be... well, boring for the Okuda player.

However, balance comes first.

I'm so excited. I hope I'm BO. Town is fine too.
