Imagine an ending where there is no cure and Conan grabs the voice changer one last time in his empty house and calls Ran. Ran wants to know how he is and about the events that just took place only to get cut off by Conan and tells her he is never coming back and that she should move on. That would be a memorable ending.

There's a beta antidote already, no antidote = huge plot hole. That won't happen...it's a little cold, anyway.

There is a prototype antidote which has a shorter and shorter effect with each dose. So it is possible that in the end Haibara won't be able to perfect the antidote without looking at her original work and there won't be any method for Conan to become Shinichi permanently other than time. No cure does not equal a plot hole and I don't see how you arrived at that conclusion. Yeah, no cure would suck for Ran and Shinichi but that doesn't make it a plot hole.

A wasted episode doesn't amount to a plot hole, if it did the detective boy fillers would have DC looking like Swiss cheese. And to clear it up, none of the episodes will be a waste just because the story doesn't get a sugar coated ending. For example Heiji dying at the end doesn't introduce a plot hole or make the episodes he was in a waste. Like I said before, it would suck for some if Conan remained Conan and Heiji died..but they are not plot holes, neither event would cause an inconsistency in the current storyline.

This couple is a favorite of quite a few out there...

But I've mentioned before. While there is visible chemistry, it just means they get along very well (by their circumstances, most likely. Shinichi and Doc Agasa seem to be the ones who understand her best, right now)

Shinichi shows no romantic interest towards Haibara. While she may drop very light hints, if it's Haibara, she knows not to pursue him because it's pretty darn obvious he belongs with Ran.

The couple itself isn't entirely horrible, and a relationship isn't completely impossible. But again, such a relationship is only possible under nearly impossible circumstances. If Ran were to die, somehow I don't think Shinichi will move on.

Besides, if the aptx is obtained, Shinichi will most likely turn back, but Haibara won't (in all likeliness). She has found friends and a new family and clearly isn't very keen on returning to being Shiho.

lol MitsuhikoxAi is actually a cuter couple For some reason it reminds me of Takagi and Satou, though.

You can't say that Shinichi doesn't have any romantic feelings for Haibara. I mean Shinichi/Conan generally always get worried about Ai when the BO appears like in Episode 176-178 and I don't see how the MitsuhikoxAi is a much more cuter couple and why would Ai fall for someone that is 11years smaller than her

that's because she's the one most likely to be in danger, the most likely to give herself up to the organization, the most likely to give up etc. She's also the only one in the same situation as him.

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't remember Conan being that worried about Haibara until she was captured (of course, that could be because he REALLY wants to find APTX 4869 (obviously))

however, krystal glass forgot about how in the middle of desperate revival, Haibara said she would use the prototype antidote after seeing how it works on Shinichi for a while

At first they were two people trapped in the same dilemma, and she was just the scientist who can make an antidote and also help with infiltrating the Org. But as time passes they trust each other more, and Haibara became more open and even cheerful. Conan can be himself in front of Haibara and that's why I think she's closer to him than Ran.
It's not about the antidote anymore, Conan protects Haibara because they've been through so much together.

Did anybody notice that Haibara always completes Conan's sentences?

and they sometimes make the same faces...
