I actually think that when you care too much about someone, you start loving them. So I think that:
- Ai loves Conan, which also means she cares a lot about him.
- Conan does care about Ai, but he doesn't love her yet.. maybe he will in the future, or maybe not (actually, in real life, it's very possible; but in DC, it just won't happen).

Canon, while the moment where she tells him to keep an eye on her wasn't in the manga. There is a manga moment where she tells Conan that Ai wants him.

Even if that scene weren't canon, I only used it as a back-up example to my statement. My point would still be valid if I choose another example.
But I don't need to since that scene is canon after all.

It's possible, but then you'll have to explain why Ai seemed jealous of Ran in the beginning, and why she seemed happy when Conan couldn't tell Ran about his identity.
