Just go commit the perfect crime you wish for me to depict. Oh wait, you can't. Because there's no such thing as a perfect crime. And that's your answer. They missed that because they missed that. There's no other explanation.
Why didn't you solve the riddle? Because you thought of some things and didn't think of some other things. The culprit didn't consider something as improbable as the victim missing one letter being that dangerous.
that and RL not giving me time.

Not trying to make you look bad. It like I said. The culprit set the scene perfectly and might have had the prefect crime but for the note. Yes I might bee over thinking it. However they being in law enforcement should know about things like this as therefore should not make such a simple mistake. Any time you force someone to write a note, they are going to leave a message behind point to the killer. That is a given. If they had only typed what the victim wrote, that key clue would be gone.
I understand why the message. But as I see it try to get the victim to willing write a note, or bring one your self would have been better, and would have not left behind a sign saying I killed him.

If they were rushed, then maybe. but there is another question. we PM about six possibilities. Two of them enter this picture. Murder to look like murder ( A framing b), and Murder to look like suicide Which I need you to say up front it is ok to post our pm message about that. Part two problem as I saw it was your note and those weird capitals. If it was to look like a suicide, then those should not be there. Yes it is possible he might leave a coded message form the reason, but again in a suicide, why not just plainly state why this act?

It was funny. I basically prove this crime  to be normally impossible

Okay, here's my riddle. Don't know if it's good, but I confused myself when making it, so it may at least confuse you, too 8-) But I'm afraid it's too easy for you.

Imagine you meet a weird guy with his really cool plane who just landed in your backyard to wish you a happy new year and brag about how he started it.

"When I started the party, church bells rang to greet the new year. One hour later, I was watching the fireworks on the beach. It looked so awesome, with everything reflected by the sea! But the sun touching the horizon another 11 hours later was even more spectacular just by itself. After two hours, I was sitting in the sun, enjoying all the light. I decided to sleep for a while and then visit a beach again, where I arrived after 12 hours, that is 26 hours after everything started.

I guess you wonder what is so great about all this. Well, at every time I mentioned, I was at the dawn of the year, 00:00 01.01.2012 local time. Easy with a plane, you may think. But I tell you one more thing - All that time, between two subsequent places, I did not move in west or east direction by more than the W-E distance between the first two positions, which was 5°. Remember, a time zone is 15° wide. There wasn't even a time zone line between those first two places.

So, now, can you tell how I did this?"

Spoiler:
Well if you are not physical on the planet, I would say you were in orbit. Also you might be near either the north or south pole

Well, show me a beach in the orbit, and you're right.

Wait, you don't have a 2km backyard? Damn. But I mentioned it is a really cool plane, right?

question. that 15 degrees. Is that only for land travel or is that for space travel. After all in orbit, you can go around the earth faster then it spins. Also you can stop your engines and use your momentum to make your orbits. Also is this beach you visit twice on the planet or could it be part of a room in orbit?

The 15° is an angle. Like, the whole 360 degree of the shere / 24 (# of hours). And as an angle, it is true in every height...

The riddle isn't about if the plane is, after all, fast enough to do it (but I think it is), but what places you need to visit for the story to be true. Also, the whole story would be true (with the beaches ect), not only the times. There are quite some hints in it, trust them ;)

I can give one more hint, if you want me to.

If you want to solve it send me your deduction until January 24th 2012. That is exactly one month after the release :)

My main problem is your 26 hours I can see 25 but 26 seem somewhat impossible.

though One location is likely to be north western spain. I noticed a little spot there where compared to the rest of spain is in a different time zone
