Magic Kaito 1412 Anime Discussion Thread

Oh wow I really like episode 6. It has the heaviest atmosphere in the show so far, but it still wasn't as good as the older version to me for some reason. Probably because you just know that Shinichi won't be appearing here and it's more of a cameo from him.
I'm comparing them right now... This version seems more epic and the animation is alot better but the characters don't have anywhere near the same amount of thought put into their interaction, it was supposed to be Nakamori having a face-off with Kid, not some fodder police.

I still prefer the older version lol... The episode itself is GOAT anyway. They did make cool improvements for this though.

I like some of the touches and updates. Like, Kid looking up news on the internet as opposed to a newspaper. Also, this time we get Akako attempting to use magic, as opposed to that original airing of 219 (iirc).

Decent episode as far as I'm concerned.

haaaaaah..... *imitation of Solomon Starbuck* While the episodes are quite good in my opinion and some of the point in the plot have been made well... The order of the episodes has messed up a lot. For example Akako's character development. Ep 6 is only her second appearance in the anime and she is already all about helping Kaito. In manga the two of them had much more interractions(including Kaito saving her life and she impersonating him) before Akako going as far as trying to summon some devil to help the phantom thief in public/b]. This is a bit rushed in my opinion.
And Hakuba's introduction before Akako was also a big no...

Plus, Kaito saying: "I keep telling you I'm not Kid". After one episode in which they fell into arms to each other...

But all in all this episode was kind of good.

Good episode. Glad they didn't skip over this one cause it explored Aoko's and Kaito's dynamics pretty well, plus it had a lot of cute scenes.
As far as tone goes, this had a bit more comedy than usual, but it still managed to work fairly well.

I find it amusing how some of the stuff Gosho wrote over 20 years ago still manages to be relevant today (3D movies).

Love the Jii and Chikage inclusions.

literally every case since they decided Sonoko's uncle should appear every time has been kinda disappointing, but to be fair, that had nothing to with Kid himself so maybe this will make it better. That's actually pretty likely because like Ran, Kid is a character who needs to be written by someone else at this point (at least in Conan, Magic Kaito is still great)

I know. Kaito's POV is what will decide if this is a good idea or not because the past few years have not been the best for Kid's cases. When Movie 14 writer has way more interesting ideas for the character, there's a problem. XD (for all the problems of that movie, the Kid stuff is fantastic for the record)

Yeah the main positive thing I got out of this is that it will be nice to not have to wait for a special or movie to see Detective Conan with a decent animation budget. :p
