@kkslider: Have you got a playlist? I sometimes just have these ridiculously cheesy songs for when I need cheering up so :x.
OMM: Sometimes my policy of not reblogging Tumblr stuff without making sure it has decent sources kinda makes me feel guilty because it's sometimes this stuff that sounds dead neat or signal boosts for things that could be important . But then it's sort of like, if I do always reblog that stuff without checking then it would be like crying wolf. And then again, most of my mutual follows are pretty indiscriminate about that sort of thing so would anyone even notice. It matters to me if what I'm reblogging is truth or heavily exaggerated or not showing the whole picture, but to Tumblr (I'm talking about the general culture behind it here)? Somehow I doubt it.
Not sure if that makes sense.

I tried Depression Quest. It looks fantastically-made, I just couldn't play it for long because it hit a little too close to home. I strongly advise anyone who thinks that depression just means "feeling sad" to check it out.

Getting to the end isn't the point of the game. I don't even know if it has an end. Depression generally doesn't. It always comes back, it's just a matter of being prepared to handle it.

Re: What's on your mind?
I've learned a lot about depression today. I actually didn't know before that it couldn't be cured. I more assumed it was just difficult.
This has been an informative day at least. I do feel more secure that I don't actually have depression (thank God, brain problems like this terrify me). That wasn't even what I got that medicine for anyway.

Re: What's on your mind?
Just sneaking in to say I find it a bit harsh to say depression can't be cured. Sure, the brain gets very used to those negative thought loops. But it's possible to learn to get out of them. Of course they return. But with practice (and growing understanding for the processes at work) one gets better at fighting them back. Until all that remains are those occasional bad days and thoughts I assume everyone has. Freakishly long process, but still possible.
(This would maybe require a discussion of the definition of "cured", I absolutely don't feel like that though :V)

Re: What's on your mind?
I feel like "cured" implies "finally, permanently fixed", and as such can't really be applied to most psychological disorders, since most of them are a mix of negative psychology and actual neurological dysfunction (depression, for example, has a notable physical presence in how it affects they amygdala (sp? thing? the emotion bit I think? disclaimer I am not a psychology student I'm just friends with some) and in damaged serotonin receptors in the brain). You can get drugs to combat this aspect of it, and for some people that really works and makes a difference. You can fix the negative psychological patterns that you've developed, but it's just as important to recognize and understand the neurological side and have a plan to combat it. Some people can handle it with positive thinking or happy place strategies, others need medical help.
For the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with taking drugs (medical ones) if you need them and people need to stop stigmatizing that. Mental illness is real illness. It has discernible neurological effects. It's like shaming a diabetic for taking insulin.

Re: What's on your mind?
... I've seen Hook years and years ago but none of the other ones. And I don't really even like the movie so I chose to forget majority of it. Besides when I saw it I was so young I didn't care for the names of the actors. Except that Maggie Smith was in it if I remember correctly...
And I'm Finn so I guess I can be forgiven for not knowing Mr. Williams.
