Well, Shinichi only commented that that's the reason she doesn't quite look Japanese (something along those lines) when Agasa told him about Elena. No one explicitly said she was half-British, except for that one time in the movie.

Based on the fact it's been said Haibara has a Japanese face, and that it's Japanese to the point she was hated for it..

She said the her Japanese looks get her treated like crap back in American school (this has been mentioned at least twice iirc).

If bodyguard were the problem then I think she would have known by now. Plus, in one case she said there was a bullying issue, so I doubt it was just guys in coats saying "stay away" and if they would make sure she had no interaction with others, why send her to a school?

I'm still wondering about the "looking half-british" thing. Since when do british people have such distinctive features that you can tell on someone that he's half british?
