Oh, it definitely crossed Gosho's mind. When and why it completely left his mind is the question.

If Gosho' sees himself as Conan, which could be a possibility as many writers envisions themselves as their main character, perhaps he had a change in the type of partner he would like to be with?

As for xpon's reply, the non-canon pairing are the most interesting ones to discuss because the canon only gets in the way of the good stuff..

Maybe if he's gone for a few more years, she goes to college, meets some new guys and generally gets a life? People drift apart. It happens. Especially if they only like speak on the phone once a month.

I also would like to see Ran with an independent life style for a change. She could get an apartment with Sonoko, restructure the priorities in her life, and live the party life..
