still.looking: I MUST get around to reading all the fanfics on this forum when I have time. Do you have a ff account as well (it makes things easier for me to find). Hakuba torture ftw xD. Photoshop can be handy but it's needlessly complicated at time. If you ever need help with anything feel free to ask me.

kat1214young: Yes brushes is funnn. It's like you scribble a bunch of things and suddenly it looks like a bunny >) and started making sigs during break. I don't have any of my usual brushes or cd4 renders though ;(

ccppfan: Feel free :]. Same to everyone else. If you're using it elsewhere you don't have to credit me though it would be nice.

still.looking: >.< ah no worries. Photoshop isn't the only program around and I'm sure you can do just fine with good ol' pencil and paper <3. I hope you'll post your fics up on ff one of these days, just whatever you do keep on writing!

And to answer a few questions:

No I didn't draw anything, I just modified screenshots.
Yes I did cut them out. But no I'm too lazy to use pentool hence my edges are all jaggety and terrible. But then I'm scalling it down a lot for sigs and it doesn't matter.

Edit: And oh -slightly- larger versions of sigs are available at my blog from now on.

Well, IÂ´m no expert at this, but the problem could be that you used JPEGs.
There are a lot of programs with which you can convert these into a different format (PNG, for example should work).
Which picture-editing program do you use? I think a lot of them have the tool "magic stick" or something similar-
if you use it on the background of the picture (but the picture has to have clear lines, so you might have to work on these before you can trans it) and click "Cut", the background is transparent.
I always did it this way and wondered why it didnÂ´t work on screenshots... until I found out that they have
the wrong format

But IÂ´m sure kirite can explain this way better than me^^"

Anyways... the Ai sigs are absolutely adorable<3

bluekaitou1412: No I can never use my own works as my wallpaper/avatar/signature. I'll keep nitpicking at it before taking it down in despair or something (rofl xD). For the record this amazingggg Ran animated gif is from a japanese DC fansite called "kirar". She has an adorable squishy style and I'm a huge fan <3

Xela: I think you did a great job in explaining! Just a note that .gif files can also keep transparency though I'll only recommend that for animated gifs

kat1214young: I'm glad you like the Haibara sigs. Even though I can't draw her I can at least make sigs of her xD. Like Xela said by saving the image in .png will preserve the background transparency. Just keep in mind that the program you're using enables layers, and that the layer your picture is on actually erases to a "transparent" pixel (that is, you can see through it to something underneath).

If you have further problems, feel free to ask~

Last post I said something about me not using the pen tool to cut because I'm lazy. I actually just "erased" the background to those by using a blocky and low res brush (like the pencil tool). Outlining the part I want, then deleting everything else. I'll suggest this only for tablet users or people who are good at controlling their mouse :]

For others I'll suggest using "Magic Wand", "Brush/Eraser" or anything else that's available to select things

. For those of you with Illustrator, GIMP, or Photoshop I'll suggest the "Pen tool/Path tool". It makes smoother lines, though it might require some trial/error and patience.

Pen/Path tool example:

Though that is to say it's not always best to use the pen tool. It might be too smooth and unfeeling for some pictures (like hand drawn pictures with fuzzy pencil lines). But it doesn't really matter xD.

Anyways.

You know you're obsessed with DC when you're painting a background and suddenly Ai-chan pops up.
