Example (for me at least): the most recent episode of Sherlock had a brilliant ending, and I'm fairly sure the people who've written fifty or so fanfics about it agree. That is always going to be the thing I remember best from the episode and it worked, probably would've worked even if the rest of it had not been written and acted so well, the ending is the last impression you're going to get so it tends to make more of an impact.

Though the new ep did make me hate a few characters...
