Yeah, apparently they don't count as a valid reason. Poor Ako-chan. (Then again, 'the sky is blue' didn't count as a valid reason either, so...)

I did go through all the other ages guessed, and none of those worked out either, so if my answer to the riddle is wrong, then apparently he worded it wrong. I also tried to work with the some of the other Chinese Zodiac signs it could've possibly been based on the clues, and still came up with nothing that worked and fit with the things he'd already said in either of the threads.
