I fail to see the point of running a fundraiser to give me money to pay for it rather than just running the fundraiser to pay for it.

You just want to be able to say I paid for it, don't you.

Well, I was intending to use the fundraiser to pay for it directly, not giving the money from the fundraiser to you to pay for it... but now that you mention, I like that idea better!

And your wife will appreciate it more if the money came out of your pockets - even if it didn't start there.
