How much do you spend on manga?

Postby meidei » July 2nd, 2010, 4:29 pm

Just naturally curious  ;D How much do you spend on manga, the ones by local publishers?

Today, I went to the closest store that sells graphic novels (an hour away by car  >:() and spent 36 Euro (~45USD) on new manga translated in Greek (extremely rare).
36 Euro is quite an amount of money but they were enough for only 4 manga. Importing them from Japan would be cheaper.

Not even one cent.

In here is rare to see manga for sale. Only on Fnac.
And all the mangas I saw until now has: Naruto, Vampire Knight, Bleach, One Piece and other two I don't remember.
The mangas are in english so only ppl that know english can read it. Is kinda stupid.

There are no Portuguese (?) manga publishers? Or you prefer online scanlations? (I can't get used to scanlations  >:()
Spoiler:
Few years ago you couldn't find a single manga in Greek. Then "Anubis Manga" was established and they started releasing popular manga like Naruto, Dragonball and Bleach. Now you can find several titles like Ruroni Kenshin, Shaman King, Death Note, Fruits Basket, Love Hina and Blade of the Immortal. They are slow but they are the only ones that translate manga, if you exclude 2 or 3  horror manga by another publisher ("Kedros").

They carry English manga as well. Even "Case Closed". I was surprised they brought all the volumes released by ViZ actually.

$0.00 USD.

Supposedly a fair-sized market for it here, though.

Well, I suppose you are not one of those who are interested to see if the publishers are doing a good job translating the manga ('cause that's the main reason I buy translated manga...)
