Totally. Life is too damn good for it to be a coincidence.

I do believe that people that judge others because of religion (or atheism for that manner) are complete idiots. It's a personal choice and I think everyone should live and let live.

Nah, that's different.

Yeah. There's a difference between atheism and agnosticism. Although I do find agnosticism to be a bit hypocritical. I'm still fine with people feeling that way, but I can't help to think that it's just a way to escape an important question we all must ask ourselves at one point or another.

Some people may feel it's not such an important question.  The related question of, "What is the purpose of my being here?" is probably .....important-er.

Yeah, some believers tend to overact a bit... Like they're crazy or something. You know what I mean? And they try to force you into it.

Please don't believe that's all of us.

No, I don't believe it's everyone. I do believe that a lot of people are religious because they find comfort or peace in it. But my preschool teacher seemed to be religious as an excuse to show gratuitous and graphic images of Hell to three-year-olds and tell them that Darwin was Satan. I didn't know he was a scientist for years or that he'd written anything. As a child, I was just under the impression that he was evil.

Needless to say, When I moved to Scotland and got teachers who taught me how to think instead of what to think, I was severly disillusioned with religion and have no intent of going back. I'm happier without it.

O.o That is completely understandable.  Y'know, I think we'd all be a lot better off if we had teachers teaching us how to think, instead of what.  There would probably be a lot less stupidity in the world.

This reminds me of an episode of The X-Files. This guy had Jerusalem syndrome or whatever, and he was trying to kill a kid.

That is annoying but the same goes for some atheists as well. My religious education teacher was that way, he didn't bother me that much since I'm unsure of where I stand in religious matters but for those who did belive he was a pain. But I belive that crazy belivers are much more common than crazy atheists.

That's probably true.
Well, The Bible itself says that Christians have to convert everyone into Christians (not literally, but the idea is mentioned). Personally, I don't try to "convert" every person into a Christian, but I do talk to people about my religion, sharing my experiences, since I'd like everyone to know about Jesus and get to know him, but there's a long way from that to try to cast out demons in the name of the Lord.

I love discussing faith, well with reasonable people that is. Extreme people either way I dislike discussing with. Live and let live I say, except for some matters like time travel, it just makes me so annoyed. But since I know that I just avoid it and discussing it with belivers.
Edit: Many of the "new" religions are like that, trying to convert people. At least thats how I remember it from school.

One of the more interesting conversations I have been privy to is that of a (nonpracticing) Muslim trying to convince a (reasonable and normal) Mormon to convert to Islam, because he knew the Mormon to be a good person, and was concerned for his soul.

another poll I missed, booo.

Personally, I used to be a full-out atheist because of logic and stuff, but eventually I realized I was solely being non-christian and I couldn't actually refute the possibility of the full set of gods that may exist. So if I had to label myself as anything, I'd call myself an agnostic theist. I am slightly spiritual, however my view of "greater powers" is simply that there is physics in the universe which we will never be able to comprehend due to human limitations.

Many people who hold strong beliefs, religious, athiestic or otherwise, will try to convert people, believing that they're "missing out". I'm a firm athiest, but people are different. People need different things from their beliefs or philosophies, so people can believe what they like, in my opinion. I just can't stand those who force their beliefs onto others, and it's not just religious peole who do that. Religion, like politics, is something I dislike discussing because it's so divisive and people can hold such strong opinions about them that they'll defend awfully harshly at times.

You're right about that. But what I wanted to say is that people who are part of "new" religions often are supposed to convert people. Of course they may choose to not do it but it's often in their holy texts mentioned that they should.
