Your Top 5 Favorite TV Series

I would like to try a different approach in finding the next series that I would watch... I did a poll thread a while back which is definitely an epic failure..
If a series would be included in most of the people's list, it may be indicative of the series' awesomeness... (Note: The series can be domestic or foreign)

I'm currently watching Lost Season 3 and I think I will be able to finish it this coming weekend... I would definitely continue watching it up to Season 5.. After that, I don't know what to watch next..

Here's my list; You may state the reason why it's part of your Top 5..
(It's highly recommended to limit your favorites to 5 but you can make your list smaller)

1. Supernatural - interesting twist
2. Lost - interesting plot and characters
3. Monk - Mr. OCD himself
4. Chuck - very enjoyable to watch
5. Psych - I like the flashback thing during the start of every episode

5, eh?

1: Dexter - Show about a serial killer who works for the police and kills bad guys.  Good acting, good plot and likable characters, and lighthearted (for the subject).
2: House - There is something amazing about watching Huge Laurie be an asshole to people.
3: Doctor Who - cheesy british sci-fi, huzzah. I haven't watched the old series though, just the new 4 or so seasons. Dunno when it's starting back up.
4: Breaking Bad - Guy who has cancer makes crystal meth. It's a good series, but there is a sort of depressing air to it that makes me not enjoy it as much as I'd like. 2 seasons, third hasn't started yet
5: Heroes - This is honestly not that good of a show but I watch it for some reason anyway. It's fun to watch, but you have to wonder if the writers know what they're doing.

i have not so many series that i watched, but i love the ones i did watch:

1 - Two And A Half Man (Best serie EVER, it's so funny i can't describe it)
2 - X-Files (Old one, but classic, i still addicted to mulder and scully cases)
3 - Californication (Don't know what to say, i downloaded the first episode cause i was curious about "mulder" and got hocked on it)
4 - My Name Is Earl (Well, i have no other serie to put here, but i liked this one =-P)
5 - Jdramas*

*To be honest, i'm currently watching j-dramas, there are a lot of good ones (and i just watch comedy)

I could say Monk and House too since i like these ones, but i'm not a fan of it, anyway, still good

I LOVE these shows! It makes me happy to know they are on the top of other people's lists too. I don't know many people who have even heard of them.

My Shows:
1. Psych - It's my second biggest obsession (obviously Conan is my #1 obsession). I've got all of the episodes, the books, a shirt, and I am currently drinking hot chocolate from my Psych mug. <3
2. Burn Notice - Most EPIC series on TV. Definitely one of the most under appreciated shows on right now.
3. In Plain Sight - Love the story lines and characters.
4. Damages - Such a suspensful show!! I LOVED the first season. Great writing and buildup of plot and characters.
5. Criminal Minds - I love the stories behind all of the cases, and stories behind the murderers/kidnappers/etc.

This idea is much better <3

I'll seperate it into 2 categories.... paid and cable

Premium:
1)Dexter
2) Curb Your Enthusiasm

[OK so I don't watch much TV anymore]

Cable:
1)NCIS
2)Forensic Files - Great show... And considering that I am a forensic science major I am very critical of shows that venture into my field of study <3
3)Midsomer Murder - this one is no longer on TV, but still a great mystery series <3
4)Top Gear - I do love my cars
5)[Almost] Any show to do with martial arts - examples... UFC, K1, Green Hornet [Two words... Bruce Lee], Avatar: The Last Airbender [Each element was represented by a different form of Chinese martial art] Deadliest Warrior [Even though they really screw up some info], Fight Quest

If anyone can find me more really great mystery shows it would be appreciated... seems like that's all I am interested in lately

suggestions:

Monk
Psyche
Lost

Monk - brilliant detective that lost his wife to a bombing incident, can be considered mentally unstable and has super OCD problems, its a comedic show
Psyche - Slacker who has a photographic memory, which helps him deceive everyone around him as a brilliant psychic detective.  Comedic show.
LOST - An airplane crashes onto a mysterious island.  They realize they will be stuck here for a very long time..as countless mysteries unravel (Mystery junkies will like this)

I love this series too but I limited the choice into 5 so that it would be easier for me to assess which series to watch next...

I watch most of those already... Monk was far better in the beginning... Its getting stale  now... Kinda happy its ending...

Psych... its "meh" to me... And its not that he has a photographic memory... hes like Holmes... Very observant, notices everything before others do and connects the dots. If holmes wanted to... I'm sure he could have convinced others that he was psychic... in fact... When he first meets people i'm pretty sure everyone thinks he is, that is before he explains his deductions.

Note: both of those shows are Comedic to me...

LOST - I KNOW I should get into that... but for some reason i always find reasons not to... I'll get around to it eventually...

@Conan324: Simpsons was good for a long time, but its ran too long... now its not nearly as good as it once was.
