I think the movie was pretty good, 3.5 out of 5 Stars is what I give it. A Dragonball movie that I know that's definitely a Power Rangers-like is definitely Dragonball: The Magic Begins; Dragonball Evolution doesn't even come close to Power Rangers-like.
I have a lot of reasons to why I enjoyed the film, but this guy can explain it better than I can, since I have almost the same reasons as him:

Oh yeah, DB: E. I streamed it on a Mogulus channel...and it was, like, downright awful on the same level as Catwoman and The Spirit: a shitty, cheaply produced, in-name-only adaptation of a renowned character or series. DB was always a pretty goofy, absurd comic in its earlier run, but it didn't go out of its way to insult your intelligence like this did.
Not the worst movie ever, but even The Magic Begins managed to be mildly amusing and slightly more faithful (not saying much, but still).
I personally wouldn't waste money on it, but following Toriyama's advice on thinking of it as an AU type of thing might lighten the blow of it.

Fixed that line for ya... The movie looked fail. Won't bother. If they do anything with DB series from now on they better hire a translator and call up Toriyama! If they are going to ruin DB/Z, they should at least get Toriyama in on it so that he can oversee the destruction and do it right.

they did leave DBZ alone. Dragonball was ruined. The good one that doesn't have absurdly lame and long fights and too much seriousness.

LOL, Thank you for fixing my line, I wish It could be un-done and erase all the pain fro watching it taken away from my head
Poor Toriyama his eyes must have been bleeding after seeing how they killed his creation

I agree with what you said at least they should have brought him in, he is invloved with the Dragon Ball Kai project, in where he does his own special cut to DBZ and I think is working great, they are already in episode 3 and Raditz is already dead, so is Goku and I don't feel like anything is missing even though they are making the story shorter

The truth of this made my eyes cross in mild rage. And I'm not even much of a DB fan.

Makes me remember the fight between Goku and Frieza. Man, that was such a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong fight. So long it gets funny and stops being funny at the same time. ^^ (I heard/read there were longer fights, but it was the last one I saw before I finally gave up watching DBZ, because I already forgot the storyline by the end of the fight

)
