couldn't think of a better thread title

This is something I wanted to make for a little while now. I've just thought too much about how people would react to it and if I'm the right person to make this type of thread but I'll just type whatever and hope it's good enough. And if you don't like it, my post count's bigger than yours, so ha!

So, I've been part of this community for over 5 years, which is crazy now that I think about it. And out of the number of fan communities I've been a part of in any way, this would be my favorite by far. I sometimes find it difficult to think of online people as friends at all (which is probably a bad idea to do in 2014), but I think nonetheless I do kinda treat people here that way, even though if that's true I kinda wish I actually knew more about people here, especially some of the more popular posters. I enjoy this community and respect how despite its relatively small size and the main reason for the site's existance no longer being all that relevant to it, that it's survived as well as it has. I don't want to make this too dramatic but I like and respect the community here and honestly wish for it to stick around.

So I feel I should make this simply as a reminder that while you shouldn't feel pressured to do anything, as this is ultimately an internet message board to discuss a detective anime/manga, I feel like we should work harder and do more to add to the community. I don't want to take away from what people do (I, like many people, have sadly mostly ignored the fan works section, which is probably unfair to people who post there), we should do more to keep the forums more active. I have a thing or two I've been wanting to do for a while to add something fun to the forums, but sadly that was delayed for stupid reasons but I hope to have that posted by the end of the month. I was really happy when that thread I made about Ran got people to discuss her character to the same degree as the Death Note thread for example, and more worthwhile discussion is good. Obviously, it doesn't have to be Detective Conan related because Conan isn't a series that frequently presents new things worth in-depth discussion but any discussion or posting at all should most likely be a good thing.

For me, I'd like some contest here in DCTP for once \o/ Doesn't have to be just drawing related, since a lot of people do nice story-telling or are even able to create great songs or poems

As far as ideas go... I don't know. Start a DCTP podcast? I know the thought crossed my mind every now and then, to try and make a podcast, but didn't really have the motivation (or time) to look into it. Obviously, it doesn't have to be a podcast that only focuses on DC (if at all. DC can be just an occasional thing), but also on more broad areas like movies, TV, other anime, etc.

As far as ideas go... I don't know. Start a DCTP podcast? I know the thought crossed my mind every now and then, to try and make a podcast, but didn't really have the motivation (or time) to look into it. Obviously, it doesn't have to be a podcast that only focuses on DC (if at all. DC can be just an occasional thing), but also on more broad areas like movies, TV, other anime, etc.

When I first read podcast I immediately thought about fake news on DCTP. Like, stalker updates or some such :x.

But anyway, +1 to pretty much all the posts in this thread. I mean, when I first joined DCTP I was thirteen (my profile says the 2nd January 2011 so I was only actually thirteen for two days and I didn't really visit that much at first, but oh well :x) and though there are some people who are no longer around, the fact that so many have stuck here, not necessarily for DC (personally, the last time I looked at that must have been Novemberish :x) but for the community and the Mafia kind of says something, y'know?

(Though, speaking of Mafia, @Kaito Lady, we have fourteen people so far for my round so if you're interested...^^)

EDIT: If it could be organised again, I think another Meaningless Forum Awards would be pretty neat ^^.

speaking of when we joined...I remember when I joined this forum was because I loved to read through all the hilarious threads like the onion head thread or the JDC thread...I even tried to recreate the JDC through the cat family and I've already promised myself that once I get proper internet I'm going to revive the thread and re-take our World Domination plans

but if we could have more threads like those old ones I mentioned it would be awesome

Yeah, I've literally been going through a load of the old threads and most of the ones you're talking about haven't been active since 2012 :/. Refound the DCTP Shorts thread though .

(And best I could do would be 48 hour phases, sorry :/. Anything beyond that and the pace will become glacial. Maybe at some point in the future you'll be able to join again ^^.)

Really, that's your idea? how about making the 1000th poll that you've so carelessly neglected. (although technically its the 999th, im counting)
