What do you use for lineart kirite?  I've just been using normal photoshop brushes, and they aren't very good at all for lineart.

Also, what method do you use for painting?  In the first picture you posted I love all the painting done in it.  Looks like it's smudge painting or something, but I'm not sure.

I outline with photoshop, painter sai, and OC accordingly.  Painter is nice too but it eats my computer (instant kill).  Outlining with photoshop is really tricky. It feels like you're using a really weird ink pen that doesn't like to listen to you =_=.  A trick with outlining in photoshop is to make your picture relatively large so when you scale it down there will be less imperfections ^^;.  Another trick would be use the pen tool which is what I usually do on photoshop.

I'm not sure when you mean by first picture >.<.  I change them as I go (sorry!).  When I paint in photoshop I usually use a hard round brush (or I make my own brush depending on what I'm doing) and just play with the flow and opacity.  Aquasixio has nice tutorial on that on his deviantart.

I hope that helps.  It really is hard to paint the digital "watercolour" way on photoshop but it doesn't mean you can't use photoshop to make awesome looking pictures.  Enjoy~

Oh, right, lol.  This being my first time in the thread I didn't notice that.

But yeah, you just seem to be able to blend you colors well when you paint.  Whenever I paint it always seems cut and dry, one color or the other, never blending well.  I combat that by doing a lot of airbrushing, but airbrushing is not always good for all surfaces and when you do it on everything it all looks the same.

Well the hard-edge is from using full opacity ^^;.  I start out with a hard edge drawing as well, I just add the shading afterwards.  This is totally possible on photoshop btw, Shilin who is one of my favorite digital artist uses this technique:

Look under goodies and look at her Tutorial 1 and 2 there :)

I wouldn't say -never- use airbrush, but I'll say don't only use airbrush.  I'm glad your style doesn't include pure airbrushing (like some of them do).

Edit:  I'm honored to steal your first post xD

yume_no_meitantei:  Oh...my bad I was hoping you would have figured that out lol.  There is nothing much to see on there anyways.

lona:  Thank you :).  Thank you for dropping a comment.

It's important to remember "blending" isn't that only way to colour.  I prefer that style because it's fast and I suck too bad to do cell shade xD.  I made a small tutorial thing on cellshading for my friend, but since I suck I won't be posting the whole thing.

Here's a screencap of one of the steps to show what I mean...

It won't resize, sorry about the size.

uhm, regarding the 1st tutorial, was it free-handly drawn with the brush tool? It was an amazing tutorial, but as I go along, I don't seem to follow it... guess that's because I'm not yet that familiar with the tools since I learned photoshop way back when I was still in elementary.

Here's another tutorial for photoshop

kat1214young:  I'm guessing you have problem with multiply, dodge, etc...when it comes to layers?  It's really useful, learn it xD.
rajhaziel:  At times like this, I can understand why people would think you're drunk xD.  Yes why are you on a computer indeed.  Thanks anyways~

I know I said I won't post sketches in a different post, but I'm planning to expand this one into drawings when I have time:

Seriously I can't imagine Shinichi as a innocent kid xD, he's too logical.

Ran:  "Seee I told you Totoro was real!"
Shinichi:  "For the last time, no he isn't!  This is a figment of our imagination induced by your mom's horrible cooking!"
