bourbon hates akai because BO told kogoro that akai set BO into thinking kogoro as sherry's friend and he could have died if vermouth had not defended him.
Kogoro now being smart and famous detective rose to level of codenamed member.
he found about sherry being shrunk and conan being shinichi and responsible for sleeping kogoro. after he learnt it he wanted to kill conan (for having bath with Ran NOT for making him famous ,as you are thinking) but vermouth said that he has promised her to not kill him in return for getting help so he could rise to a codenamed member.
he is known to be secretive because vermouth disguises him every time because he don't want the people who tried to kill him before recognise him.
he ,however, hates conan so he beats him whever he can.
he didn't revealed identity of conan and ai and acted as he don't know about CE=SK to become famous and because of Vermouth's promise
in file 800 where conan was about to be killed ,kogoro could have taken the advantage of situation and make sure that 3rd robber murder him. Vermouth realised it and called him to remind him of the promise.
why he joined BO??
to get money ,he ,being a racehorse gambler ,lost the money given to him by yukiko to babysit conan & as ran mentioned ,his housefold financial condition is going down in flames. so to get money ,he joined BO.
