[768-770] Jeet Kune Do: Sera's Identity Speculation Thread

when i first saw..it said a rival has arrived so i assumed it was a guy

I thought the same thing at first with just seeing the title, but slowly I've obtained some suspicions. With this, it's especially:

the first line is an odd choice and possibly a hint: "Ran, you really are unrivaled!"

I just find it odd Gosho would call the file this and then start it off like this.

Of course, you probably have nothing to worry about. I'm mostly rambling for fun here, convincing (or not) it may seem.

The only thing that really bothers me about the [s]Sera[/s] abs. is a girl theory:  How is she supposed to make Ran jealous if she doesn't know that Conan is Shinichi? That would only work, if he didn't indeed develop feelings for Sera abs., and potentially join the harem. But that would be out of character.
Sera telling Ran she's met Shinichi doesn't seem likely either, it has been done.

i thought the same thing. but after reading the comments here...my thoughts have shifted

But you do bring up a good point...

Perhaps! Conan/Shinichi finds himself falling for new character... And Ran sees how close they are getting (doesn't matter whether new character knows Conan's Shinichi or not, could just be innocent on new character's part) and can't figure out why she's upset... Therefore leading to OMG Conan=Shinichi etc.!

That would require her to subconsciously know that Conan is Shinichi. But it's entirely possible for him to get along well with Sera, without there being anything sexual between them, kinda like with Heiji.

Since Sera is apparently going to be a recurring character, it's not unlikely that she'll eventually meet Shinichi when he has taken an antidote. She would work together with Shinichi, making Ran jealous. (Kinda like Kazuha was jealous of Shinichi. )

On this page, Conan actually says 'he' so bleh, but I'll just go on to say he's come to the wrong conclusion.

If you're referring to Page 9, I specifically wrote "the business" vs. "his business" as it appears in the scanlation - just wanted to clear this up.  Again, the only one who uses "he" or any other gendered pronoun in this file in relation to JKDcharacter is Sonoko.

One last thing I've deduced: why this chapter was done so fast. It's very simple, really. Abs. experienced this personally, so obviously translating would be easi-*shot*

I'd hate to get in the way of wild theories and speculations, especially from the guy who gives me work. <3 The scan's now been changed... we already revised once anyway, right?

(Although I can't see anything too unusual about Conan's behavior/facial expressions on page 9 - same mean scowl, and he seemed pretty eager to get Ran and co. away from "him").

Yeah, but I like to leave that loophole there in case Aoyama intends to use it later on. You start to recognize these things.

That would be good! Except falling for Sera. But I hope Sera does have something to do with Ran finding out! Cause I was waiting for it all of last 700 chapters!

He's on stilts, his stomach is made of eel so he can remove it whenever.
